Just tried to watch The Last Jedi for the first time since opening night

Saw it on Netflix and clicked... Got about 20 seconds past the scrolling opening monologue and as Po began to prank call Hux, i immediately turned this shite off before seeing Rose’s fat face.
God this movie is such a giant turd of wasted potential.

It’s so disappointing

TLJ is one of those rare films that gets exponentially worse with each rewatch.
When I saw it in theaters for the first time, my reaction was "damn, that was pretty bad."
When I took my kid to see it a few days later, I was literally shaking my head most of the time.
When it hit Netflix, I decided to give it another shot. Afterwards, I thought "holy shite, this movie really is terrible."
My son was watching it the other day, so I sat down and watched it with him for a few minutes. The entire time my thought was "this might be the worst GD movie I've ever seen."

There are a lot of rumors swirling out there about Episode IX and quite a few of them claim that Abrams will be essentially retconning a lot of the decisions Johnson made in Last Jedi. Reportedly, Luke will be more than just a Force ghost and Rey's parents will be more than just junk dealers.

I assumed Rey’s parents being “junk dealers” was only true “from a certain point of view”. I expected that to be basically a lie.
I honestly believe they need to have JJ take TLJ and recut it with some reshoots and fix it. I think there are a lot of parts of a good movie buried in there, much like how Arrested Development did the season 4 remix that greatly improved it before releasing season 5.

Separate from even the Star Wars story, it’s just an absolutely terrible movie on its own.

I have never watched a movie that I felt soo confused and shocked leaving in terms of trying to figure out what I just watched.
For die hard fans of Indiana Jones this was comparable but worse in every way to Crystal Skull.
At least Indiana was just old Indiana in a bad movie.
Luke being turned into a space cow titty milk drinking, attempted child murderer, friend abandonding, all hope is lost coward was beyond bizarre.
Dont want to recount all the other obvious talking points of why the movie was awful.
The whole franchise just needs to bomb till Disney intervenes and cleans house.

I'm growing to accept the theory put forth by Mr. Plinkett in his review of TLJ. Its really a badly made mad cap comedy masquerading as a Star Wars movie.

Disney could shite in a can and release it as a SW9, and it would make a billion dollars. They have no reason to cater to the fans of the series.

I’m pretty sure JJ is pretty much forced to say this. There’s no way in hell JJ would have done the hyperspace weaponry. Mike and Bryan reluctantly had to defend The Last Airbender for years, but once their Nickelodeon contracts were over, they have trashed the film nonstop.

The only way to save Star Wars is to just pretend that The Last Jedi never happened. This thing has been painted into a corner. There is nowhere to go with the story.

Look there are people who actually like the direction of the series. They aren't Star Wars fans, but they exist.
There are a few on this board. I remember a dude named Astronaut or something and a Cobra Commander guy. They love the direction of SW, They love the crank calls, the Leia Poppins, the beta Luke. . .all of it.
