Couldn't get through S1 of Discovery. . .just unadulterated woke dogshit
Favorite Captain: Sisko
Through 4 episodes, really like it. Just finished the Gorn episode.
Thoughts:
The bad:
-Uhura is THE eyeroll source of this show. She is the only girlboss character so far. And that's fine, so long as she isn't the focus of the episode
-Pilot is annoying, but tolerable
-Spock's accent is definitely distracting.
-Beaming down a spot of DNA directly in front of Spock's eye was laughable.
The good:
-But there is a lot of bones to work with here.
-Captain is really good.
-Engineer is entertaining.
-Security officer is interesting.
-Effects are great
-Writing is pretty consistent so far
Looking forward to see where this show goes.

I don't know how to talk to people who don't like SNW.
Does it have one too many comedy episodes? Sure. Absolutely. But for me at least SNW is peak Star Trek. I love everything about it.

SNW Is like Galaxy Quest or The Orville.
If you don’t like it, all good. But to me, that’s awesome homage.

I’ve talked to some Trekkie types about the show.
Apparently a lot of the weirder episodes are very Trekkie and they approve.
To a less informed viewer like me, it just seems silly.
But overall not bad. Either way Cullen Bohannon in space, you knew it wouldn’t be terrible.

Season One is much better in tone than the following seasons. But it’s still a great show.
If I could change one thing… it’s too self referential. Go explore some things other than your feelings.
Looking forward to the next season.

Anson Mount is awesome.
I need to finish up the latest season. Overall I've enjoyed the hell out of SNW.

I have not watched any Trek product since the terrible, G-dawful, so-called "Star Trek" (2009).
Having said that, it is my understanding that SNW is the best of the current dreck.
The absolutely great thing is that, we still have Star Trek (TOS), TNG, DS9 and, heck, even TAS, Voyager and Enterprise, plus some great, great films and other entertaining ones, all prior to 2009. That's several hundred, approaching something like 750, 800 hours.
So, I can just pretend that 2009 onward doesn't exist. And I'm doing that and will continue to do so.

I watched until I found out Anton Mount supports trans kids.
Up to that point, I liked the show. I didn’t mind the silly episodes as much. There were a lot of those in TOS.
I can’t stand the butch navigator. Every time she got close to dying, I got hopeful only for her to recover…

I assume Actors are retarded woke theater kids with little more than a surface level understanding of social and political issues, that they probably got from Reddit or bluesky.
If you can't abide actors that are retarded champagne socialists, there isn't much to watch out there

With the constraints built into the concept of this show, it's performed amazingly well.
You have a lead character that famously has a countdown towards a terrible destiny. You have future tech that has to remain somewhat stagnant. And you have a cast with personal histories that a segment of fans want neither expanded or tweaked in any way. They just want the series to reaffirm the same original information, over and over again.
Every Star Trek series is hit and miss. Even the original series. But the "A Quality of Mercy" episode of SNW is top notch for any of the series. They seamlessly payed tribute to the "Balance of Terror" episode from ToS while showing us why sometimes you need a Captain like Kirk. The best of this series makes up for the musical and Muppet episodes and is as good as the best of the other series.

Didn't they make it to where those movies were this whole other "timeline?" Seems like that would give you license to watch other stuff, just not those.
IMO, SNW has too many filler episodes when they only have 10 per season. Also, agree its too much like 90210 in space, espcecially the last season. Loved the first couple seasons for the most part.

I'm one of the few who actually liked S1 of Discovery. While I didn't care for Michael's character I found the story with the captain to be fun and interesting. They created the framework for what would be the absolute shitshow of Mary Sue Girlboss in the following seasons, but I was more interested in the wider story than Michael so I could ignore what they were doing.
The biggest issue the Star Trek universe has at the moment is they can't seem to find writers who know how to write moral quandary well without advocating for a side. With TOS the show either took a general stance (beware of unchecked technology), a third stance (you're fighting over nothing but minor physical differences) or left it up to the viewer to decide (is it ethical to let a good person die in order to save others).
TNG found their footing and did this as well (Bev Crusher banging ghosts and then a Trill who had to go from a male host to a female one) as did DS9.
I haven't found a lot of that in SNW.
To quote a different franchise: "there is another."
SNW has its moments, but they lost me with the song and dance episode. I stopped watching it after that episode and started re-watching TOS.

The biggest eyeroll shite with her, is like Cypher from the New Mutants.
They took her niche of "I am good with languages" and started applying it to "the language of Math", the language of complex engineering", etc.
Reminded me of the Mutant Cypher who can understand the language of {insert just whatever from Computer code to prophecy}, making him a walking cheat code for every situation.
He was eyeroll inducing in the comics.

Just saw the DVs.
Wow, people really don't like that I like a thing.
Stay mad, I guess. Not gonna apologize for enjoying something

I didn't say hated, just the bad about the show. Every show has good and bad. Even The Wire. . .frick you, Burrell.
There is nothing to hate from me, so far. If I hated anything, I'd not be watching. . .like with Discovery or Starfleet Academy..
Just making a pro/con list for folks who may consider watching.
