Agreed. This is why I don’t agree with people that say all of Star Trek has been shite for the last ~20 years. Has a lot of it been shite? Absolutely. But there’s definitely some good stuff in there.
The fact that SNW went to the mostly old school episodic format as all the original shows did was a fantastic choice.

The gay aura around her isn't what I find annoying
She just tries too hard to pull off "cocky pilot" and it doesn't work
She is pretty good off the bridge as the sniping bag of snark, though. She pulls off being quippy.
The only eyeroll, as I have said, is Uhura. And even that isn't so bad. She isn't Rey.

I don't know why this was so mindblowing to me, but I just found out the actress playing Ortegas is straight
And she said the character is not gay, just intentionally ambiguous.
My gaydar was waaaaaay off on the actress.

You can skip the musical episode. The one with puppets was weird. Making the Gorn basically Xenomorphs was a crazy change.

If you like TNG you should watch season 3 of Picard. It's basically TNG but decades later. Plus the return of the 1701-D.
