Just Started Reacher and I need to talk about an aspect of this fun show

I will eventually jump in to the main thread. We're about to start season three and this is a guilty pleasure. Very read meat for the dudes.
The plot holes/armor is insane. It's become a running gag with my wife and I. I love it but it's crazy. There don't even have a Train Station like the Dutton's had to dispose of the bodies.

I just finished season one and it's just plain awful...but fun to watch. The soundtrack is awesome, though.

If you like S2 you'll like all of it.
S1 was very close to the novel it represented, not just in the plot but also Reacher's personality. The following seasons lose that to varying degrees, to the point of making him an Aspy (sometimes) in S4. If you never read the books that probably doesn't matter.

Yes, and it's great. It doesn't hide what it is. It's the greatest modern representation of 80s action movies that we have, and I am in for all of it. If it were trying to pretend to not be an over the top mess, then the show would be awful. It embraces it, so let's continue to ride this runaway train.

This really irritates me to an unnecessary degree. He's not Aspy in the books; he just doesn't like bull shite. But he has a really good sense of humor in the books. They've completely taken away his sense of humor on the show.
As does, he is always in nice clean clothes in the show. And you never get the inner monologue of his critiquing coffee and the cups it comes in.
Of course, if the show spent time on his coffee critiques, he'd probably come off as Greta Thornberg's brother.
At least they moved Neagley on to her own show, so I don't have to put up with her terrible angry-acting every scene.

S2 wasn't based on one of the better books anyway and they made it worse. It's been awhile but I think that was the one that was the worst with the Scooby Gang plot and "don't mess with the 160th" slop..
I swear, if Lee Child had just paid some vet $20 to be an advisor he wouldn't have gotten so much wrong about our military.

I just finished season 3 last week and have really enjoyed this show. Never read the books so I don't have any preconceived notions of what this should be. Just a solid, manly action/investigation that all people complaining about wokeness should enjoy.

Most recent season was not reacher
S4 was overly violent just for the sake of violence. It was silly.

The plots for this show isn't exactly Dark, anyone watching for deep emotional connections or contemplative moral quandaries is going to be disappointed.
This is a very male-oriented show with lots of fast pacing and a strong lead character who is very straight-forward and non-apologetic about the violence and death which follow in his wake.
After S1 the show runners paradoxically decided that instead of the attractive female lead for the season being topless at least at one point, they needed to drop that and have more shots of Reacher in various states of undress.
Other than that, it's just a fun, mindless, red-meat romp.
This is a very male-oriented show with lots of fast pacing and a strong lead character who is very straight-forward and non-apologetic about the violence and death which follow in his wake.

I don't think anybody expects that. The books aren't exactly Dostoyevsky, they're brain candy. They're a Jason Statham movie, and if they deliver any depth that's just an unexpected surprise.
But even action romps need a certain degree of competence in the storytelling. Reacher has been a mixed bag in that regard.

Oh no, I haven't seen S4 yet. How will we know that she's really smart if she's not in it for him to constantly remind us

Ritchson is TEMU Statham.
Statham can actually act, both seriously and comedically. Ritchson cannot. His attempts at humor rarely translate because he is so wooden in his delivery.
S4 was my least favorite of the 4 so far.

I wasn't comparing their acting ability, just the canned predictability of their shows. It doesn't mean they can't be enjoyable but they still have to be done well. You can't just slap together a bunch of action cuts, shrug and say "well, it's a mindless action flick so it doesn't matter."

I'm hating season 4 more than season 2. I still had interest to watch to the end to see how season 2 played out. I'm already bored with season 4. I haven't even made an attempt to watch the past episode that dropped last Wed.

Child writes Reacher as comically infallible. Some books are better than others, but there’s a lot of Ladies Man style “I’m going to have sex, then everything will randomly work out” level plot armor.
