Movies have become mind numbingly expensive to make and market. No one is willing to take risks, so the same formulaic crap gets churned out. The TV and video game markets have been infected with it for years.
Theatre movies have become blockbusters. Good movies come from the streaming services, just how it is now!

There’s apparently a Napoleon movie starring Joaquin Phoenix coming out at the end of the year. And the Oppenheimer movie. Literally the first two movies I’ve seen that interest me since Top Gun and Top Gun was a bit of a let down.

The Superhero genre seems to be all that comes out in terms of the big theater flicks now and I personally hate the entire genre as well.

Theres no Indy Jones movie out right now.

Theres a Kathleen Kennedy self insert costarring Harrison Ford, but there's no movie about Indiana Jones.

Alamo south Lamar is closed today

The Jennifer Lawrence movie seems watchable. The asteroid city seems like a 3 hour event to get nowhere

People have whined about “liberal Hollywood” for decades longer than “woke” has existed as a term.

Yep, for a long time.

The difference is while hollywood has indeed been mostly left leaning, and even injected some leftist themes into movies previously, they didn't beat you over the head with it and then call you a racist bigot when you bring up even the slightest complaint about the quality of the movie.

Unlike today.

Start The Chosen series on Angel Studios. Free and is very well made considering the small budget.

My mother lives in Longview, Texas, and she just told me that 1 of their 2 movies theaters just closed. Luckily I live in the Orlando area and we've got great movie theaters. Unfortunately, there's just not a lot to go see.

Between the rise in the price of going to the movies as well as there being many, many other entertainment options available, the public seems much less inclined to go see a mediocre movie than they used it.

Unless it's a huge "must-see" event type or a genuinely great movie, the public isn't interested anymore.

A buddy of mine attended a talk by some studio guy. As he put it: "nobody knows what will work, but everybody knows what has worked."
