I can’t imagine getting HBO for the first time in 2023
You could probably stay home for the next year and not get caught up with all the good content
Obviously Sopranos and GoT, but so many bangers
My favs
Succession
Boardwalk Empire
Barry
White Lotus
Curb Your Enthusiasm
And my all time fav- The Leftovers

50% audience score on RT. Surely it can't be that far off for you to legitimately include it with Chernobyl
and Band of Brothers?

I started The Wire.
I missed it on its original run & just never got to it.
6 eps in & ready for more.

Eta: I see it was mentioned. My bad.

2 pages in and no mention of Warrior?
Banshee ain't bad either.

Funny thing is when I saw this thread, I came in to recommend both. I am about to finish Banshee this week, and will begin S3 of Warrior right after

Have you watched any HBO shows before? Succession is a great show but there are definitely better options if you haven't seen any of the top tier stuff like The Wire, The Leftovers, Deadwood, Band of Brothers, etc.
Succession is a tough binge. Same plot for every season and they all are miserable people, it gets tiresome on a binge.
Barry is a must watch though and incredibly unique, I'd go with that over Succession if those are the only two you're considering.

Update from OP (me)
Since this post:
* I had already watched the Sopranos multiple times from a DVD set
I’m already in 2 seasons of Succession. INCREDIBLE!
4 shows in on Barry. LOVE IT!
Since I’m a huge super fan of Breaking Bad, I was told The Wire is an absolute must.
Personally, Boardwalk Empire jumps into Top 5. I’ve been anticipating this for a long time.
Thanks to all for the feedback!

Scavengers Reign
12 episode season (23 to 26 minute running times, including end credits).
Released in three episode spurts, so it's like watching four hour long episodes of a series.
Highly recommended if you enjoy sci-fi animation.

You won't hear many people hate on either of those (although I wasn't a big fan of the final season of Succession), glad you're enjoying them.

The Wire is an absolute must if you enjoy TV in general. It is outdated technology wise, obviously, but if that doesn't bother you it will almost certainly be one of the best shows you ever watch.

Great show.
True Detective Season 1, The Leftovers, Band of Brothers, and Chernobyl are 4 more must watch IMO. If you want comedies, Eastbound and Down, Vice Principles, and Hacks are must watches as well.
So many other good shows too. The Newsroom, Mare of Eastown, Westworld (gets a lot of hate but S1 is all time great), Six Feet Under, The White Lotus, Deadwood.
MAX really has an incredible selection if you're starting from scratch. I can't bring myself to recommend Game of Thrones because the ending just ruined the show for me. Almost worth it just to say you did though. Or just watch and stop at the end of Season 6.

Silicon Valley and Entourage should be on your list.
And Deadwood.
And Deadwood.

Brother... I'm not gay or anything but holy shite I'd kiss you on the lips after reading that beautiful description.
The first season of Westworld is some of the best television ever. Good lord the roller coasters it takes you through.
Mare of Eastown is good too.
Band of Brothers is the GOAT
ETA: You want comedy? Vice Principals. Along with Righteous Gemstones.

I don’t think Succession would be all that great of a binge because of this.
Definitely a two or three episodes, wait a week, two or three episodes, wait a week, and so on and so forth.

Thoughts? Barry is on my list as well.
I mean, setting aside the obvious (Sopranos and The Wire), those are 2 of the absolute best shows on Max. I would also offer The Leftovers if you haven't seen it.
For minis, Chernobyl and Band of Brothers.
(ETA: Another vote for Silicon Valley)
