So if it can't be a gay black guy or a lesbian, the best we can do is this ugly mystery meat motherfricker.

Back up the truck for Cavill and you’ll have 15 years of hits

Otherwise let it die

To me, he fit the part perfectly. I was surprised at the negative feedback to him being Bond
He was a near perfect Bond.

His movies weren’t the best.

Pierce took a lot of shite being Bond but he was an excellent 007.

I don't think there was a single hard core James Bond fan who hated Pierce Brosnan as Bond. Other than Goldeneye and, to a lesser extent, Tomorrow Never Dies, the movies he starred in were not that great.

Interesting choices in that article. I think I want Theo James for the role now.

I'd actually be fine with Dev Patel,
No. Why not just stick to the character as Fleming described him? Black hair, blue eyes, 'cruelly handsome', Scottish father, Swiss mother. Not Indian, not black, not a woman. if someone wants to make a spy movie series with those characters, go ahead, but don't leverage the source material to realize some DEI fantasy. (I know you're not advocating that, I'm just rambling)

Also, Josh O'Connor could use those ears as a weapon/highly sensitive satellite reception device.

All I know is the choice will suck no matter who it is.

Why? Because nearly every IP reboot of the last 5 years has been shite. Dune was the only exception. Everything else was dog shite.

On the off chance they do keep Bond as a straight white male, they will surely make him a doofus like this dude. Some wimp who apologizes to everyone.

Just let the IP die already, or at least put in the freezer for 20 years. There have been too many Bond movies anyway.

This makes no sense. The only plus is at 34 you could use him a while for the role.

Why? Because

current internet culture hates everything sight unseen. Everyone believes they know how to make movies. Everyone believes they know actors better than the people making movies do.

I don't necessarily think Josh O'Connor would make a great Bond, but I know the dudes who decided Challengers was bad because they decided it was gay without seeing it will hate the choice. It doesn't matter that he proved he can pull off an aloof Indiana Jones in La Chimera or that he can be threatening and intimidating, as he was in Challengers. The internet bros have decided he's goofy, so how could they ever see anything else?

And 10 people here will argue that we need to continually felate Henry Cavill, no matter who is cast. "Did you not see the latest non-descript action movie he starred in? He was appropriately anonymous, but he definitely had sexy muscles that made me feel like a hetero man."

This. I like Cavill as a person and an actor, but he's had plenty of opportunities as a lead in big movies and they have all been disappointing in some way: Immortals, Man of Steel, Man from UNCLE, Superman vs. Batman, Justice League, Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare... the only hits were as Superman and those movies are not broadly well-loved. His record just isn't great for whatever reason, and he's had a lot of swings at the plate. His best role by far was the supporting villain in MI:Fallout. Even ignoring that he's already too old, I can understand why they'd be reluctant to cast him as the new Bond.

Just give it to Taron Egerton if Josh O’Connor is in the running.

I'm kinda with you. I like O'Connor in what I have seen him in. Wouldn't be my first choice but I will give him a shot
