He conducted the Imperial March at the ripe old age of 94.

Yep.
A lot of people try to put Hans Zimmer in the same tier as John Williams, but in my opinion Williams is in a category all to himself. He still composes music on paper while Zimmer has been composing his scores in a computer for the last two decades. Most of the instruments Zimmer utilizes in his music are completely digital, whereas Williams still uses a traditional orchestra.
Not only that, John Williams has composed some of the most iconic movie scores of all-time. His run from 1975-2005 was extraordinary and will never be topped as long as we live.

But not just that. Some of the most famous theme songs for stuff like the Olympics and other sport events and other random shite too.
The documentary that came out about JW a couple years ago is excellent. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend watching it today.

How we went from a legend like Williams to a hack like Giacchino that composes forgettable generic garbage that barely passes as background noise is beyond me.

Surely everyone has seen that. That was a really fun watch. The amount of hit soundtracks he put out consecutively was crazy.

Really good venue. Set up in the hills. Parking is a bitch but we Ubered in and out. Food and drink options were great. It was as July but being coastal California it was not heat torture.
Basically sat in my seat eating cheese and sipping wine for three hours listening to John Williams conduct his greatest hits. Pretty phenomenal.
