I will say they SHOULD be able to pump out faster seasons than say, House of the Dragon. Much faster.

These are stand alone books that are already done and written with specific plots, AND they have literally already been adapted as movies. The creator is heavily involved.

There is no reason beyond FX work that says they couldn't do a season every 1-1.5 years

Apparently after reading a bit, the plan is to do 7 seasons in 10 years and the first season will be 8 episodes, which seems like a LOT for book 1.

Would love it as someone who loves the first 4 more than the last 3.

If they are smart they will do 5ish episodes for both of those, and film back to back as the kids will look similar ages Prisoner could be done in 5-6 as well imo. And so you could easily have 3 seasons in 3 years.

I think that’s exactly what will happen. It’s not infeasible to think they could wrap this up by the time he’s 86-87.

Still, they’re going to need some luck to be on their side and I hope it happens because I think Lithgow will crush it as Dumbledore

No difference here.

One thing I wonder, are they going to use the same set designs?

A ton of money has been spent by WB and others firmly establishing Hogwarts as a physical representation at theme parks, and in video games, etc. It would be incredibly strange to not have this set in the "same" castle.

I thought he was well into his late 70s or 80s at that point.

He lived a rough life, IIRC. Complete alcoholic. That's why he was so aged compared to more healthy 70 year olds today

Probably going to get downvoted…

I just don’t understand why they are remaking the books into the tv format. The films were really well done and perfectly cast.

I’d rather see a story about Harry’s kids or give us a story set at the American school introduced in Fantastic Beasts.

It appears not, they will have their own style to some degree, but I have to think they are recycling SOME things.

Fans of the books greatly dislike some of the later movies because they drastically take out fairly significant and vast plot points, scenes, characters, etc

They had to, the later books are long and they can't fit all of that into 2.5 hour movies.

You can in an 8 hour show

You disagree that HOTD is based on already written plot lines, characters, etc.? I don't know how you would disagree.

Will be hard to get used to a new castle. Seems like a strange decision if that is what they are doing.

Because the movies, while entertaining, leave a lot to be desired when compared to the books.

They are going to spend half of season 4 addressing the House Elf Collective Bargaining.

Are we sure it’s Albus Dumbledore, Jr?
Could be playing Dumbledore’s cranky dad that moves in with him at Hogwart’s?

Think… Arthur Spooner.

It’s too bad Ralph Inneson has become so in demand for big studio movies lately. He’d crush it as Dumbledore.

The movies did an admirable job but yeah. It’s almost worth it just to get a better adaptation of both Goblet of Fire and Half Blood Prince - the two best books and the two worst movies

While it left a lot out, I actually enjoy Goblet of Fire...Half Blood Prince, even though it gave me one of my favorite scenes from the movies, can get fricked though

On one hand, I love Lithgow but on the other hand i think they should have gone with someone a bit younger.

I did not care for him as Churchill in The Crown. To my ear, his English accent is poor, and for the life of me, I couldn't understand why they cast him in that role.

But props to him in general for continuing to grind when he's 80.
