Wasn't that almost all of Episode II and the entire animated series called The Clone Wars? The Stormtroopers were clones Jango Fett. Then they switched over to conscripts so they could go DEI with no explanation of why that was desirable.

I meant from an individual perspective, but yeah, you're right. I think I blocked out those movies.

Quality > quantity

Colt 45 Lando and Mace Motherfricker were good supporting characters in their trilogies.

Making a ton of them who weren’t interesting is a problem. Rose gets the most hate because she was just fricking obnoxious.

What year is it? Boyega would only be a trailblazer if the qualifications of doing so would be to play an unlikeable weak male lead with poor acting range in an established series.

Precisely. She was objectively the worst character in a SW universe that includes Jar-Jar Binks.

(I maintain that Darth Jar-Jar was supposed to be a thing and Lucas turned pussy when the JJB backlash was too much for his ego to handle).

LoL, Nope

And this is exactly why people hate DEI so much. The character that Finn was based on was cloned from:

You know, the whitest guy in the original trilogy
quote:

Morrison is Maori, of Te Arawa (Ngati Whakaue) and Tainui (Ngati Maniapoto, Ngati Rarua) whakapapa,

Thats sounds very white me. Almost way too white. They even had to re-write the stormtrooper narrative to shoehorn Boyega in

Guess no one ever told him about that Lando guy

Oh yes, the only black character was a jive space gangster that tried to steal the white woman (Princess Leah) from the white protagonist; whom he promptly stabs in the back and sells him out to the other side.

So diverse.

At least when the Phantom Menace came along the token black guy was the head of security for the Queen of Naboo. I'm sure he was called and Uncle Tom for this.

The whole Trilogy was terrible. Even if you take all the woke DEI shite out it would still be bad. There was simply no plot. They made 3 of them...No plot and make shite up as you go along. It was like when we did "make believe movies" as kids with mom and dads movie camara (it was fun though).

I always see this revisionist history but the force awakens was well regarded on release. The 2nd movie is where the trilogy died

yeah Force Awakens was pretty great when it came out. everyone loved it. it was a solid, solid base to build a great sequel trilogy on. the only thing that is unforgivable is that they didnt reunite Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewie on screen while all the actors were still alive. just no excuse for that. Han dying was fine but should have happened after they got them together.

but then the next two movies happened which makes TFA pretty pointless to the overall story

Admiral Ackbar had a tiny role and is beloved by Star Wars fans and he was some sort of fish monster.

I saw TFA in the theater 3 times with different groups. Everyone was excited for SW again. My so was old enough to be taken to his first SW film in a theater for TLJ. I walked out in extreme disappointment.

This is one of the funnier memes to come out of the prequels, but no

He was just a failed attempt at the fool archetype in the Hero's journey.

Boyega needs to quit this. He seems to come out with these comments every year or two. They are tired and redundant. I wasn't a fan of Finn to begin with and am on record not enjoying TFA when it came out, because of what it was already doing to the lore of SW. I saw where they were going with things and knew it wasn't going to be good, I just had no idea how bad it would have gone with the next two.

Most SW fans I know, even including myself, wouldn't have really cared if his character got more story, so his thoughts on this are just wrong. I think there could have been much more interesting ways for his character to have come about, isntead of being a stormtrooper. That being said, his race was not the issue. In a Galaxy of billions of different species, his blackness was not a cause for concern (besides maybe the Asian markets )

So he's screeching at fans for not accepting black characters, then basically diminishes two beloved characters as being token blacks.

If he has a point, it's not a good one.

Agreed. You may as well dub in the Millennium Falcon engine failing sound all throughout the entire TLJ runtime.

My problem with that specific quote is that he's insinuating that the cookie should be a fully chocolate cookie, rather than a more realistic representation of a population, especially the one that watches these movies.

He wants this:

Instead of this:

Proceeds to discuss how black people have always been in it.

(while forgetting James Earl Jones voices one of the most iconic villains in the history of everything)

quote:

The They Cloned Tyrone star went on to criticize certain fans' inability to accept Black actors in leading roles. "They're okay with us playing the best friend, but once we touch their heroes, once we lead, once we trailblaze, it's like, 'Oh my God, it's just a bit too much! They're pandering!'"

Let me go on record now as saying John Boyega's character had one of the better backstories and was criminally underused in the sequel trilogy. Fans had nothing to do with that, unless we're talking about fans in China.
