How about when Vanna White tried to fill in for Pat Sajak on Wheel if Fortune
Just saw the clip of that on YouTube.
Holy crap; she spent 30+ years listening to Pat interview contestants and she picked up nothing? She talked to the contestants like she was an alien trying to mimic a human being.
"Well Vanna, I'm going to nursing school because my Mom just died."
Vanna: Great
"Well Vanna, I just retired from the Navy because I have PTSD, my wife left me and my house burned down."
Vanna: Great
Her entire contribution to the show was, hi, great and let's play.
No wonder she just turned letters over and they almost never had her speak. I mean you know they tried to seriously prep her for this and she still couldn't remotely pull it off.

The problem is now, the aren't any real game show hosts anymore. They're all just washed up actors looking for a gig. Most ex game show hosts began their careers as broadcasters, so they had a great feel for live TV and had good voices.
That's a good point. I have no interest in seeing Jeopardy! hiring some B list celeb to turn the show into a platform for clumsy comedy and ham routines.
Ben Bailey from Cash Cab is about the only other quiz show type I could think of, in terms of someone who plays it pretty straight.
Ken did fine, and he may grow into it.
Part of Jeopardy's staying power was that Trebek was a pro's pro broadcaster who wasn't all that well known here, so the show had room to grow around him and vice versa. I hope they don't bring in a big name just to get a ratings spike.

Can we please get Tara Banks to host this thing?

Whoever takes over full time should be required to grow a mustache.

I’d be down for that.
I watched yesterday. While I don’t think Ken did a bad job, I don’t think he was particularly good either. And I’ve said it before, as much as I do actually like him, you can’t hire a host who’s main job function is to read clues who has a lisp. It’s very annoying and noticeable. While I appreciate KJ and all he does bring to the table, he’s not the right choice IMO.

Agreed. It really needs to be a professional “voice” to handle the job. Like I said earlier, someone like Mike Rowe or the Cash Cab guy would be best.
I personally would prefer Rowe. He has a great voice and is a professional voice over guy. I think he would bring similar likeability to Trebek and also be able to entertaining as well.

Seriously Mike Rowe sounds like an excellent choice.

Surprised Jennings made it to air after the bean dad episode.

Mike Rowe is one of the most intelligent people in America but there’s zero chance because of his politics.

You mentioned them together because they look alike and kind of sound the same.

All of the best choices are far from center politically. I doubt they'd find someone good who isn't on someone's hate list. Once they went after Tom Hanks I figured no one is a "safe" celeb in Hollywood.

Somebody a few posts above mine mentioned Cash Cab guy. The original post I had was just Rowe. The Cash Cab guy actually does a very similar thing now to hosting Jeopardy so he would be an easy transition plus I think he has a decent voice for it.
That being said, Rowe would be the best. His voice is great and would translate well. He has experience talking with people and getting them to open up so the interview sessions in Jeopardy would be a cake walk for him. In the end, Rowe is subtly very humorous and does not take himself to seriously so the audience would love him.

I was hoping that they would get rid of or at least modify that silly and tedious interview portion.
I always have said that if I ever go on Jeopardy my piece during this time would be how the interview portion of Jeopardy is the worst segment on television.

Jeopardy would be better off looking for some older newscaster with cozy mannerisms and a good delivery.
Posted on 1/13/21 at 11:27 am to Nicky Parrish
Better host than Jennings in my opinion.

Absolutely!
Do you really give a damn if Don the Accountant from Denver met his wife at a Star Trek convention?
If not do away with it completely, modify it, that is to say if Sally the Optometrist from Pittsburgh once skateboarded the whole distance of the Great Wall of China, give it a mention and then segue back to the game.
That way you would guarantee not to leave any unanswered questions on the board because you wasted time listening to some of the most cringiest stories ever told on television.
We don't know how post Trebek Jeopardy! will fare, and there could be a disconnect that would ultimately lessen the popularity of the show.
They just may need an autist or two to reel off 40 or 50 wins to rejuvenate the show. Autist who are otherwise not endowed with a pocket full of personal and pointless anecdotes that would deem them unsatisfactory as "TV material".

I'm surprised the politically correct crowd hasn't demanded that he not host after all his old tweets came to light.

My all time favorite dumb fact shared was a couple years ago when that Megan Margkle girl married whatever Prince it was.
This girl on Jeopardy was super excited to share that she was in the same sorority as her. Not in the same year and not even at the same school.
