I didn’t think Letting You Go could hit me in the feels any harder than it does.

And then I watched this doc.

Just peruse his twitter feed. I can usually separate an artist's politics from his art. But he makes it impossible.

Right up there with "The Chicks."

He's one of the most talented songwriters of our generation, but he's allowed the political stuff to completely consume him.

I thought the booze would get him, but it turns out it was Trump.

I probably wouldn't know anything about his politics if I didn't read Tigerdroppings, but the amount of mainstream coverage and hype he gets as the only real country/Americana songwriter ever is tiresome.

He clearly made a good marketing decision by choosing the right politics, and it's paying off.

So in your opinion selling your soul would be considered a wise decision?

Maybe I read that wrong and you meant it as criticism.

I love Isbell's music, to absolutely include the DBTs.

But yeah, he makes it very difficult to like him.

With most on this board. He’s insanely talented and I enjoy his music, but man he is incapable of shutting up about politics. He also has a very high opinion of himself and his influence. I’d argue Chris Stapleton and even Zach Bryan are way more vital to country’s resurgence. Both are liberal but don’t make every thing they talk about politics.

Before a retort, I think James Woods, Kidrock, etc. are annoying as well.

agreed.

i think i may have picked up listening to him from the days we posted on the SEC-OT together.

i thought his messaging was ham fisted, but really enjoyed his music after he was brought up over there and listened for a bit.

Country is a psyop where the record label people (who are the same people who’ve always owned record labels fwiw) are trying to turn regular baws into libs

It’s pretty rough bruh y’all all loved Stapleton and then he played the Biden inauguration lol. I get it though, I would totally pretend to be a liberal if they made me a famous musician
