James Gunn: “Dead means dead” in the DCU

Well, I wouldn't mind using the Lazarus Pit (and/or resurrection) in a story," Gunn confessed. "But it would have to be part of the story itself. I won't be killing major characters just to pop them in the old Lazarus Pit to be alive again. What backfires more is people believing there are no stakes, and death doesn't mean anything. Dead is dead."
I didn’t see the article but saw they discussed a recent comment here. I think it’s the right way to approach it

So no "Death in the Family" Batman movie. Good. I hate that story.

Didn’t watch the video, but if that’s a nod to the multiverse stuff in Marvel and how it cheapens the stakes then I’m in agreement with that.
When death isn’t really in play for the characters, and there’s just some loophole that can bring them back then they aren’t in as much danger as they appear to be in.
And I say that as someone who absolutely loved Infinity War and thought Endgame was about as perfectly as they could’ve handled and ended all of that.

I’m not familiar with the story well enough but is he brought back after he’s killed?
Apparently Gunn clarified that the Lazarus pit can be used, but it would have to be central to the story. They won’t keep going back to it as a plot device

Hope his movies are great because if not he’s made himself into a punching bag.

Why time travel and the multi-verse suck for Marvel

Robin dies (Jason Todd’s Robin).
Under the Red Hood is based on it. I enjoy the story and would like to see it adapted to a live action movie.

One of the best Batman stories ever made. Would be amazing live action.

The DCU will stay dead if he doesn't pull this off.

Didn't Superman get resurrected in Justice League?

I mean, I have seen clips of Robert Patrick for the new season of Peacemaker so I think that's a bit of a contradiction.

Hopefully no Jason Todd at all.

FIFY
We have like 8 different versions of batman and 6 different versions of superman. All different stories/universes.
I'd like to watch some DC stuff outside of batman but i have no clue who or what movies are in what universe.

Well that’s just wrong. There is the DCU and there is Elseworlds, period
