Is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) the best forgotten movie of the 2010s?

Just a great Fincher movie that is never discussed.

And that Rooney Mara transformation:

Have you seen the entire Swedish trilogy? Highly recommend it. The Fincher film was good, too. Wish they would have made all three English versions.

Great movie, it’s just a tough hang because of a couple scenes so I don’t think many people run to go rewatch it often

I loved the books. It's a shame Stieg Larrson died before his books were published. He was a damn good story teller for a socialist.

As for the movies -- I prefer Rooney Mara's portrayal as Lisbeth over Claire Foy in The Girl in the Spider's Web.

that died during its theatrical run

i don't really care for the original sequels

the reboot-sequel was very meh, too

also, this movie is the GOAT of random song usage. i will never hear "Sail Away" the same again

It's a great winter-time movie. Very atmospheric at times.

I still haven't watched the original Swedish trilogy but this one with Fincher is fantastic.

Also, how bout that Trent Reznor score?

I think the soundtrack and the opening sequence get talked about a lot.

It's surprising to me that Mara's career didn't really take off after this. I don't know if she consciously took smaller artsy stuff or what, but she seemed destined for the A list and it just didn't happen.

she's a rich kid so she's very selective with her roles

Stop after that one. Someone picked it up after Larson died, and it is no where near as good as the trilogy.

Reznors score is just setting your heart rate the whole movie and then this song comes out of no-where

I love dragon tattoo and wish it was on more. No one makes dark and twisted more watchable than fincher

Fincher had a hell of a run

2010-the social network
2011- tattoo
2013- house of cards starts
2014- gone girl

I stan for Ben Button too

It was good, but the Swedish version was better IMO. It was more chilling to me.

Cannot stress this enough. Fell off of a cliff after 3. The characters weren’t the same. The stories were terrible.

No way that rapist social worker survives having a metal dildo kicked up his arse, unless she immediately got him medical attention. Some things would have ruptured.

The movie is pretty damned good, though.

It's crazy how stacked Kate Mara is compared to Rooney. Genetics is weird sometimes.

Seems like a lot of actresses fall off once they hit their 30s. Both Maras are there now. Rooney Mara is definitely the far better actress of the 2 sisters, though.

and random covers, the opening credits are a cover of the Immigrant Song and the closing credits cover Bryan Ferry's Is Your Love Strong Enough, which was originally the closing song for a somewhat obscure Ridley Scott movie Legend

mara def wanted to do more

quote:

2. Rooney Mara asks Amy Pascal about “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” sequel
Even Rooney Mara is tired of Sony’s maybe, maybe-not stance about sequels to its “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” adaptations. “Logic tells me they are not ever happening- as it’s been almost 3 years since it came out,” she acknowledges in an email to Pascal in October 2014. “But I had still been holding out a little bit of hope.”

fincher is the man, but i don't think sony was interested in doing more with him.

i am a big fan of the books and this version. too bad they didn't do more, i just don't think it made enough $$$.
