I was excited about Garfield and his comments about how fricking stupid the studio was made me happy. He was a solid Spiderman.
My feelings exactly. And I liked he and Gwen together as you could see that had an actual chemistry.
Yeah...Electro was terrible and the movie as a whole was a disappointment, but I didn't hate it and was looking forward to another Garfield led Spidey movie. After SM3 I wanted that whole thing to die.
That being said, I liked the Spider-Man in Civil War way better and am now on board with Marvel taking over the character from here on out.

I've never seen it, but I have seen the new Fantastic Four. I kind of forgot there was a second QAndrew Garfield spiderman movie.

I remember liking the first Amazing Spider-Man more than the Avengers that came out in the same year. There was actual drama and character development instead of corny one liners and dumb jokes preceding each set piece battle.
The second movie was pretty good in a lot of areas. I love the chemistry Garfield had with Emma Stone. I think that made the movie. There was certainly way too much going on. That's what draws comparisons to Spider-Man 3, but I enjoy Amazing Spider-Man 2 much more.
I honestly don't want every Marvel franchise under the Marvel Films banner. We know where that universe is going and it's to the point where these films, as good as they are, only serve as a pit stop on the road to the inevitable battle with Thanos.
I at least liked that the Spider-Man and X-Men films put the titular characters front and center of their own universe, and you didn't always know what the studio was building towards.

I love people who get mad at Peter Parker for being "emo" in SM3. Jesus Christ, the term emo was practically invented for Peter Parker. He was emo before that was even a concept.
The whole point of Peter is that he is a nebbish little dweeb, ignored by all the cool kids, and by people like Mary Jane. It's only as Spidey that he can come out of his shell. The fact that sequence is Peter's conception of cool is probably the BEST thing about SM3. The problem with SM3 is about about a million villans, an overstuffed narrative, and no general direction whatsoever. It's a lazy cash in.
Yes, ASM2 is better, but that's because Emma Stone kills it as Gwen. Hell, Marvel should bring her back as Spider Gwen.

I honestly have no hate for ASM2. It's just a standard run of the mill comic book movie for me. I don't find it any worse than the Thor movies or the Iron Man sequels. But I'm sure that's blasphemy around here.

Come on man. You know they were referring to the entire cliche Emo look and attitude that kicked in with evil-Peter.
Ditko's Peter had the emo-depression and melodrama but he was outwardly a normal, nerdy looking guy. Spider-Man 3 Peter looked like he'd just purchased a do-it-yourself emo kit.

This is all bad and you should feel bad for defending it.

My take is that Spider-Man 3 was an insult to the fans that loved SM1 and SM2.
ASM2 didn't have as far to fall from ASM1 to hit rock bottom. I don't think that many people were insulted that ASM2 had tarnished the good name of ASM1.

Is The Amazing Spider Man 2 worse than Spider Man 3?
watching it on FX now and man what a piece of shite.
Jammie Fox's Electro may be the worst comic movie villain since Arnold as Mr. Freeze
I actually tried to watch some of it last night, and kept thinking over and over how awful it was. I didn't like the first one either though, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Raimi was clear early on that he never wanted to do Venom and he didn't like the character, so I think this may be the middle finger towards the studio.
If you ever hear him talk about it, I believe this is true. He has a lot of animosity about the movie but is very forthcoming about it being crap.
