It's not worth finishing.

It’s one of those shows that once you start, you’re most likely going to finish. Especially after watching 2-3 whole seasons. The mystery box/cliffhanger nature of the show makes it hard to walk away from.

I feel bad for folks watching it for the first time now, after seeing all the negative reactions to the ending. It’s gotta kind of ruin the fun of the show for them. That’s how BSG was for me - I loved the show but had already read all of the negativity around the ending, which really sucked a lot of the fun out of watching the last season.

I think so

The ride is worth the potential disappointment in the finale

The finale does not ruin the show for everyone

Probably the 2nd most frustrating ending to a show ever. The entire final season for that matter.

I don't mind if people find it entertaining...it was at first, talk at the water cooler.

But I have a particular disdain for shows that don't respect the audience... And turn out to be something that doesn't jibe with what came before.

I mean any show that becomes the equivalent of a fiction story written by a high schooler with fantastical adventures and ends with the cliche, "and then I woke up" is what Lost sort of became... And that's insulting for the amount of time you put in and pisses me off.

Seriously, if the first 3-4 episodes didn't hook you then this series isn't for you.

I am currently on my 6th rewatch and almost done. Started 3 weeks ago. Not too hard to get through if you can binge. Singlehandedly my favorite show of all time. I disagree with the posters that say Season 1 is the best and it goes downhill from there. IMO it only gets better. I thought the ending was not good at first watch but every re-watch it gets better and better. It really ties everything together if you understand the message the writers are trying to get across. Phenomenal characters, mythology, and mystery make this the greatest show ever put together.

I'm assuming you don't have a subscription to HBO. Hell not even counting the mini-series, I'd put probably 20 shows on HBO alone that are better than LOST.

I don't hate LOST, I think there is some good story telling in there, most of it not mattering though, and good acting, but there is no way the show gets better and better with each season. Season one is the pinnacle, it's definitely a good season. The first two episodes being two of the best of the entire series.

Dumbest comment of the day. The ending takes it out of the running by itself.

Great show nonetheless

Nah I have HBO. I've seen The Wire, Sopranos, Deadwood, GOT. All good shows. I've seen Breaking Bad (2nd fav show) multiple times and Better Call Saul. Vikings, Last Kingdom, Sons of Anarchy, Black Sails - you name it, I've watched it. But nothing compares to the message that Lost provides - that of Fate and Destiny and Redemption.

Is this not an accurate statement? And if not why?

It’s probably the most divisive ending to a show ever. I personally love it and will continue to defend the ending, but a lot of people didn’t like the answers and even some misinterpreted the ending to the point where some idiot journalist interviewed Lindeloff a few years after the show and started arguing with the writer and creator of the show about the nature of the ending. May have dumbest interviewer I’ve ever seen who just kept arguing with him for like 8 minutes and Lindeloff having to explain the ending to him as if he were a toddler.

The ending of LOST is a big part of what I love so much about it. The finale was nearly perfect.

That's because it followed the exact same blueprint as Lost.

Incredible characters, acting, and twists. All the while promising that "SECRETS WILL BE REVEALED". And then, an ending that clearly showed the writers had no fricking plan all along and wiped their arse on a piece of paper for the ending.

frick Lost and BSG for being SO DAMN GOOD, and then ending SO DAMN BADLY.

That's a tough answer.

There are a hell of a lot of episodes and some were crap. And they didn't exactly stick the landing when it came to ending the series.

On the other hand, the last episode of the third season is one of the best things ever on TV. A bunch of the characters decide "frick this, we're getting off the island" and they just go balls-out. And you have to really watch everything before that and be invested in the series to appreciate it. Oh, and there are a couple of game-changing events at the end.

By the time you've watched that, the show is halfway over and there's no way you can quit the series. And there are some fourth season episodes people rave about. (the episode widely considered to be the best ever is early in the fourth season)
