I spent hours reading theories about the show when it aired. That would be the one major drawback of watching it now. The discussion was half the fun.

same, but you are probably more likely to enjoy the ending binging it than having the time to figure out where it is going. The theories and dissection of the show was the most enjoyable part but it is what lead to my disappointed and i assume a lot of others.

To be fair it could have been random ones. I didn’t get into LOST until near the end of Season 2, but I’d watched “Fire + Water” (largely regarded as the worst episode in the series), Special (Michael centric), and Homecoming (Charlie centric) and it didn’t appeal to me. My best friend then told me to buy Season 1 of LOST, and if I didn’t love it he’d pay me back. Finished the first season in like 2 days, I just got unlucky with the ones I had watched before.

Is Lost worth watching?

Absolutely, yes. It's one of my favorite shows ever.

Plus, it lends itself to binge-watching really well. Waiting week to week as it aired was excruciating, and led to all kinds of questions, whereas binging it allows you to sit back and enjoy the ride a lot more. I just started rewatching with my stepdaughter a week or so ago actually. Loving the first season all over again.

It's a show that generated a lot of praise and a lot of bitching. If you like character-driven shows then it's for you. If you like mystery, then the same. But it is a show with lots of "questions." And a lot of people in the end weren't happy with "unanswered questions." However, IMO most things were answered, people just didn't like the answers.

Also, if you're 3-4 episodes in and aren't really interested yet, then I would maybe give it a few more and call it if you still aren't. It's a show that I loved from the start, so you shouldn't need a full season to determine if you like it or not.

But like any show, there are hits and there are a few misses/filler episodes. But all in all it's quality television. And some of the episodes are generally viewed as being among the best episodes of TV all time...they're that good.

For reference, OP mentions The Wire and Sopranos. The Wire is my #1 show of all time and the wife and I are currently almost halfway through the Sopranos and we like it.

It's one of those, I call..."bail shows."

And you end up pissed you got invested.

It's high-brow convoluted soap opera...where they have no end plan and just make shite up as they go along and ignore what happened before. Might as well just watch "Days of Our Lives" or "As the World Turns."

This. It's a soap opera. I really like Lendelof, but the writers just recklessly wrote stuff in and didn't care to ever answer them because they were cool to throw in. Way too many things went unanswered or unexplained.

Probably the 2nd most frustrating ending to a show ever. The entire final season for that matter.

God help this board if Cocomo decides to do a deep dive into Lost.

The first season is fantastic

Some of the best TV ever made.

They just tried to be too clever with the rest of the show, and it made for a strange ending that didn't seem to answer any of the important questions.

If you're not hooked in season 1, don't waste your time. I thought the first season was fantastic, but it's downhill from there.

I disagree. Through The Looking Glass was a total gamechanger and one of the best TV episodes of all time. Absolute mindfrick.

One of the best TV series I have ever seen.

Plot is awesome

Character development is freaking off the charts good!

I actually place it a hair above Dexter, Breaking Bad,and Goliath

Watch the 1st 4 or 5 episodes. If you aren't hooked, I'd be shocked.

Yes!

I watched while it ran and the discussions between seasons and weekly with friends were great. Recently re-watched it with my teenage daughter, who loved it, and it was still great!

Season 1 is fantastic. Season two is meh to just ok. Season 3 was ridiculous by mid season and I have never watched another episode of lost since then.

IMO, of course

I am currently on my 6th rewatch and almost done. Started 3 weeks ago. Not too hard to get through if you can binge. Singlehandedly my favorite show of all time. I disagree with the posters that say Season 1 is the best and it goes downhill from there. IMO it only gets better. I thought the ending was not good at first watch but every re-watch it gets better and better. It really ties everything together if you understand the message the writers are trying to get across. Phenomenal characters, mythology, and mystery make this the greatest show ever put together.

Well The Brig through The Constant is one of the greatest episode streaks of all time, so you missed out.
