Is Enders Game a stand alone book, or the start of a series?

I know there are other books, but is it a complete story?
Or is it just the first book in a series like Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone?

The original book can stand alone.

There are other books in the same universe but it isn't a situation where its a long story told in parts; some of the other books take place at the same time as Enders Game and just follow different characters, and even the "sequels" are completely different types of stories in different parts of the universe.

first book in the series. The series is kinda weird in that after the second book, it splits into two completely different series focusing on two different characters.

Yeah I liked the others but they're all kind of stand alone books in the same universe

Okay that's good news that it stands alone. I'm about 3/4 through Enders Game, and while I really like it, I don't want to get tied up in a long series

It's both. There wasn't a fully planned series, and it was meant to be a stand alone. But Orson Scott Card has been drawing as much blood from that stone as he can, and he's written approximately 5 billion sequels.

Some of 'em aren't bad, but none are essential.

I really enjoyed speaker for the dead.

Enders game tells a complete story, you can stop there. But I'd recommend reading speaker for the dead just for entertainment purposes.

It's not so much a part of a series as a very good facet of a conglomeration of other loosely related books which could also stand alone. Or better yet, have their words returned to sender and pages left blank.

Its a complete book but the series also shows how he and otherseventually feel about his role in an entire species anniliation. What he does to revive it and political problems.

Also splits off and follows beans from his early childhood on.

I found the immediate sequels much more interesting, though I did like ender's game. The developments also have a significant impact on how one sees the events of ender's game.

i really liked ender's shadow.

other than that, the rest are kinda 'meh' in that they're ok but certainly not up to par with 'game'.

Ender's Game can stand alone. I struggled through Speaker for the Dead and refused to finish Xenocide.
