I'm still enjoying them because Marvel has made so many excellent ones. DC has a couple in that category but not as many. If the quality goes down, I'll be out quickly but as long as they are top notch, I'm in.

I’ve reached my over saturation point I guess. But these movies still make major $ so I must be in a small group.
I've never seen a Transformers movie (but I'll probably watch Bumblebee someday).
I've never seen a Harry Potter movie.
I go to Bond movies because my wife likes them. As soon as she's tired of them I'll stop.
One Hangover, Creed, Lego Movie were enough for me.
But if any of this stuff makes money or makes people happy, I hope they make a ton more.

Do each of them have 3-4 films in the franchise? And do all those films come together and make 3-4 more films with them all in it? One thing for me was I was burned out on the characters themselves. There might be just as many rom-coms each year but I haven't seen Steve Carell play his character Andy from 40 Year Old Virgin eleven times. I would get sick of that pretty quick to if I saw his character that much. Or I dont see them remaking every historical biography 5-10 years later because it was supposed to be good but it wasnt so lets try again. I know you werent replying to me but I think you're missing the point of why some people get tired of them.

You expounded my thoughts perfectly.

I'm amazed there have been so many, just makes me realize how dumb the viewing public is anymore. Apparently they have all made money, so they keep making them.

I got burned out, stopped watching them and complained every time one came out about how there's too many comic book movies. Nobody in Hollywood listened.

So now i'm back to watching them.
That's basically my position, but I do love the fact that these movies are Star Wars for kids nowadays. End Game is like Return of the Jedi in terms of anticipation, and I like seeing the cultural circus though I'm personally not as enthusiastic.

I still haven't seen a couple of them. I might finally watch Age of Ultron before End Game comes out.

Can’t burn out on them if you never watched them to begin with

t's weird that people get tired over 3-4 films per year. I watch triple that number in new horror films every year.

This is my thought. It’s not like they come out weekly. It’s like 3 or 4 tops a year. Once every three months doesn’t burn me out. But also I rarely go to movies. Have bought my tickets for Endgame. The last move I’ve seen in theaters was Infinity War.

All the comic book movies are basically the same. However that is what we are stuck with since movies cost so much to make and no studio is taking a chance. Hell Aquaman made like a billion dollars, it is basically automatic.

That being said it is a great time for television. Any money we used to spend going to movies is now spent on streaming services like Netflix

Every single genre follows the same general formula. This is is not a comic book movie trend.

True only difference is now almost 100% of big budget movies are comic book movies now. They have replaced all action, comedy, etc movies. Only genres left

Disney kids movies
Animated kids movies
Star Wars
Comic book movies

There are 2 epic stories in this decade:
Game of Thrones and the story of Jon, the Starks, the Lannisters, Dany, and the Night King.

MCU and the story of Tony, Steve, Nick, Thor, and "all those other guys", some of who have made big names for themselves.

Both are compelling, and coming to a head. If you binged the films in basic chronological order, the story remains coherent, and even the meh movies are solid episodes (IM 3, Tony loses his mind after New York).

Blockbusters by nature have to aim for the widest range of viewers possible. Which means you will automatically leav e out a good chunk of genres. They are meant for families and younger (most animated films) or older (Star Wars, MCU, etc.).

A horror film will never be a big budget film. It can't be. Even if it's niche is big, it's still a niche.

Winter Soldier is a vastly different film from Infinity War. Which are both very different from Dr. Strange. Which is different from Thor Ragnarok.

YOU put them in the same bucket, but they aren't nearly the same type of films.

Fair point, however, Hellboy and Joker don't count because they aren't "big blockbuster" superhero movies and are both built to buck some trends. The New Mutants is not coming out.

And this thread got down to, "3-4 Movies that are connected and are required to watch all of them to get the point" per iwy's post and the OP's agreement. Which limits the real films in question to Captain Marvel, Infinity War, spider-Man, and Shazam! (and that one may not count).

So there are effectively 4, and at worst 5. 5 would be the most MCU/DCU films in one year.
