My 7 year old and I went a few nights ago and we have watched every Marvel movie together over the last 3 years, it's one of our things.

He let out a really sad oh no, oh no during that moment which will definitely stick with me for years. I love how much we've gotten attached to some of these characters the whole movie was a blast.

I have a 16 year old and an 11 year old and I realized the other day that a huge portion of our bonding during their youths will have been over these movies! They have literally grown up watching this story evolve. For the past 5 years or so we've actually used the release of these movies as their birthday party and brought friends to see them all opening weekend, since their birthdays fall in April and August.

It really has been a wonderful thing to have shared with them, and like you, I'm not looking for the story to end.

I think this film has me more hyped to see Avengers 4 than Star Wars Episode 9.

The supposed "deaths" didn't have the impact that they were hyped to have. I feel like Avengers 4 will include the real game changing final deaths for at least one or two of the big names. I think Loki is permanently dead which is sad because I loved his character, but his death is probably the biggest in this film.

I have no idea where they're going to take the forth film, but I am pretty certain most, if not every one of the characters turned to ash at the end of Infinity War will come back. In that sense, the ending of the movie fell flat for me because it's not as if I don't already know that at the very least they are making a GotG volume 3, Black Panther 2, and a Spiderman sequel.

I feel the exact opposite.

There was a very audible, and even palpable, "Oh No!" throughout the theatre that I was in when Spider-Man, Black Panther, Starlord, Dr. Strange, and Nick Fury disintegrated (for lack of a better term).

I personally think that Infinity War did damn near everything right....it is at least top 2 in the MCU. For me, if you want to compare it to Star Wars, the only comparison is ESB.

Of course we know that some, if not all of the disintegrations, will be back.....I mean shite basically all of the heroes that died have died and resurrected at least twice or so in the comics.

In my mind, Infinity War was done about as best as it could have been. It checked pretty much all the boxes for me.

ETA Now I will say this I will be a little disappointed if the way that they bring everyone back is to just have Wong use the Time Stone or something like that....it has to be more creative that that

Yeah, the Russos did a great job in the fact that while we "know" our favorite characters will be back we "felt" the deaths.

It was truly masterful....when Spider-Man died I mean Tony just made you feel it. I can't imagine many people in that moment thinking "bullshite...Spider-Man 2 is already confirmed."

The last 20 minutes of the movie was the best type of emotional rollercoaster (that you can get from a movie that is)

ETA Editted for you "smart wrestling" fans....aka "smart movie" fans.

I should say that the deaths didn't have much of an impact on me because I know that the majority of them will be back because of previously announced upcoming films.

That said, the way in which they all "died" also fell flat to me. I would have preferred more having died in a similar fashion to Vision although what happened at the end of the film was a great way to clear the board to make way for the next film.

Yep. And even though we know they are coming back, they still died. This will affect their character arcs, or at least how other characters deal with the death of half the population. So even if/when the raptured people are returned, the stakes are still very real. These deaths don't have to be permanent for them to permanently affect the MCU.

They did it well, but I was definitely thinking that most of them will be back because they have new movies in the near future.

Outside of Spiderman most of the characters that had any reaction at all to being turned to dust had a "WTF" look on their face and then poof they were gone.

The red wedding comparisons are rediculous. No babies were stabbed nor throats slit.

So which characters fall into severe depression because of survivor's guilt?

Everyone simply vanishes in the comic so... This was more dramatic, imo.

Think it? I screamed it at the sobbing kid sitting next to me as I swatted the remainder of his popcorn from his trembling little hands!

Seriously, in the moment, the drama of the deaths was intertwined with the, "ah, so this is how the Russo brothers are going to clear the slate for the next film". Now that it's done, I'm way more moved by the Parker/Stark memes and the revelation of Groot's final line from Gunn.

But there, in the theater, after seeing Thanos do a hard reboot on the Marvel movie universe, the deaths seemed more like a semi-moving plot twist than Old Yeller getting shot.

I know one thing: Spiderpunk needed to be bitch slapped when he uttered some pop cultural references that were to make Stark and Strange feel old. My wife and I looked at one another and said, "Not funny!"

They did fall flat. Gamora and Spider-Man have emotional deaths. Loki's sucked. You didn't even get to hear Thor scream in pain because his mouth was covered.

My daughter cried when Gamora died. After the movie are said she felt bad for Thanos.

Lol. She was crying with him not for Gamora.
