I'd reorder it some, but pretty solid list. Bride of Frankenstein is way too high, but it doesn't matter. The Sixth Sense should be at least in the top 15. Also personally I'd have the 1991 version of Night of the Living Dead replacing the original.

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

Should be #1. When this movie came out, they handled all of it so perfectly. The marketing was incredible.

I never saw Blair witch project but I remember when it came out. The marketing campaign was definitely one of the best ever.

Original Nightmare is top 10 for me easily.

Scream at 27? GTFO

JAWS affected the beach tourism industry.

Scream single handedly boosted caller ID sales.

I caught part of The Devils Backbone on HBO late night one time when I was about 9. That scene with Santi and the closet effed me up. I was afraid to go down the hall to piss at night for months afterwards.

It's actually one of my all time favorite stories now. Del Toro knows how to make movies. It's unfortunate that it's still a relatively unknown film

Also, what's with Babadook being up in the 30's? Am I the only one that was extremely underwhelmed? It's a solid movie, but nothing extraordinary about it

Yeah Jaws isn't a horror movie...there's nothing supernatural about the ocean...and Jaws isn't crazy...it's just doing what sharks do...sometimes.

It's a fish! A common fish. It's not even Creature from the Black Lagoon.

But if anything it would be a monster movie...but sharks are just sharks.

It's a thriller.

The only difference between Jaws and a typical slasher is that the killer is confined to water. Instead of stabbing someone to death it eats people alive. A real shark doesn't behave like the shark in Jaws. That shark was a true blue psychopath that had a loving taste for human flesh.

Yes...Jaws is a horror movie.

Sharks can't be that. Which is why it's not a horror movie.

It's just a fish that is running out of food and feeding in shallow waters. I think biologist basically call thenm strays or rogues.

But a rogue does not a horror movie make - you need sinister motives.

A shark can't have sinister motives...it's a fish. It doesn't have free will.

You couldn’t have a pathology in a sharks surviva mechanism? Some of you all are being way too ridiculous. Inducing fear=horror movie

A couple that I'm glad made the list is Rec and Martyrs. The Babadook, It Follows, and The Witch don't belong on the list IMO. They were good, but not top 100 good.

The thriller and horror genre are basically interchangeable with many movies being considered both. Being that basically every recognized movie database considers Jaws a horror movie, I'm more inclined to take their view on this over a message board poster being stubborn for the sake of conversation.

Also, it's possible for movies to fall into many genres. Calling it a thriller but not a horror movie is laughable, and if you can't see that idk what to say.
