I use this thing all the time and it works anywhere in the house, perfect for if you can’t find the remote. I also use it to turn the volume down on my wife’s Bravo from the other room.

It’s got some other cool features as well, if you hit the headphone button you can listen to the tv through headphones and mute the tv. Great for if you’re watching next to a sleeping spouse or trying to be quiet in the living room when the kids are asleep.

The keyboard button lets you use your phone’s keyboard to type things into the search bar instead of clicking every individual letter with the remote. That’s probably the best feature if you watch a lot of YouTube, I use it a lot.

It’s buggy. Wish they’d fix it.

Yeah the remote app kicks all kinds of arse now.

It used to kind of suck but it's come a long way.

On my Roku remotes as soon as you plug headphones into them they mute the TV and you control the headphone volume with the volume rocker bottom on the side.

I use voice search which, for me, is much faster than typing even on my phone.

The Roku remote is the only remote that came with any of my HT gear I actually use.

there is also an app for the computer. i use it as well to control all my roku tvs.

also, you can even setup your roku tvs to operate with alexa. or you can get the advance remote that you can verbally tell the tv commands without pressing a button.

I will be doing this. I have gone through (ballpark) 156 roku remotes.

Those things are shitty.

I use my Roku app on my phone to find the Roku remote whenever I misplace it...which is all too frequent.

Damn that is a cool feature. I use the app exclusively- I haven't seen the remote in months

It is way better than the Fire Stick Remote app. I don't like it at all.

i'm not using my phone as my remote control for my tv.
i also don't stare at my phone every waking moment of my life, so its not a big deal for me to put the phone down and use a very simple remote to control a very simple device and actual watch a show without looking at my phone.

I have had 5 rokutvs for several years now, i've never lost a remote, or broke a remote, and i have two kids and 2 dogs.

you're free to call me an old fart for not wanting to use my god damn phone as a tv remote.

But your remote doesn’t have the features like headphones and a keyboard. I prefer the buttons on the physical remote but the mobile one is pretty cool for those reasons. Also works anywhere in the house.

It's also helpful when you want to watch something at your local bar and they will not give you the remote!
