Stallone gets the boot in Cop Land and replaced by James Gandolfini.
Unbelievable supporting cast: Keitel,Dinero,Liotta,Cathy Moriarty,Sciorra,Peter Berg,etc
Stallone was the worst actor on screen and had the lead.

Movie: Saharra
Matthew McConnaughey was bad casting. For those who read Clive Custler books, he’s a bad pick for Dirk Pitt. Not sure who is perfect, but it needs to be an all American action star with comedic timing as an afterthought. Bruce Willis maybe, but too old when it was released.

My pick for Reacher would be Robert Taylor

I always wanted to see 80's era Schwarzenegger, Stallone and JCVD in a film version of MacBeth.
Arnold did play a great Hamlet

I’d replace John Cusack with Matthew Modine in Runaway Jury. It’s my favorite Grisham book, and the whole time I was was reading it I pictured Modine as that character. I’ve always liked Cusack, but just didn’t envision him in that role.
When I read “A Time to Kill”, I pictured the guy who played the old grumpy doctor in Doc Hollywood for Lucius.

Any movie starring Melissa McCarthy with an actually funny female comedic actor who is somewhat attractive.

replace Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October with damn near anyone else!
ETA: this movie has such a great cast otherwise that Baldwin is a glaringly bad choice even aside from his political rantings.

I really do wish that was a real movie

Brad Pitt in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. I'm not sure why he got praise for the role but all I saw him do was play with his mouth and glide around the screen trying to be cool. The narration itself said James was constantly blinking due to dry eyes and was on the edge of paranoia, Pitt didn't use any of this. He just played Brad Pitt again while everybody else was acting circles around him

Sylvester Stallone as Detective Mills. He originally turned it down.

Yup.
In the book, Reacher was like 6'5 and blonde.

Sophia Coppola.
I don't even have to tell you which movie.

Both Linney (as a WVa State Trooper) & Gere in Mothman Prophecies. The rest of the film had a real cool, indie feel and would’ve been even better with some lesser-knowns as leads imho.
Disclaimer: Dad was a WVa State Trooper that was sent to the bridge collapse. But I still like this movie, regardless.
Same for Mcconaughey in Bernie. Still love it but in no way did it need his starpower.

Kate Winslett in Titanic with Carrie Underwood.
Carrie Underwood was 13 years old the year Titanic went into production.

And the strong silent type, which made me think of Robert Taylor (Longmire).

Had to circle back to this one.
There should be an Oscar for Wet Blanket awarded to the person in a film who doesn't belong and actually hurts the picture.
For me, that would be Liza Minelli in Arthur. One of the funniest movies of the 80's cast perfectly except for that role.
Untalented, ugly, unfunny. The trifecta.
