Just seems like one of those guys that's destined to be a star if he gets the right role.

Possible, but maybe there is a reason he's not being cast in a lead role. Besides the hardcore most people don't really know who he is.

I've liked him for a while, and I only recently watched The Wire. He was great in that though...really great actually.

He was pretty good in that Obsessed movie with Ali Larter. He was fantastic on The Office. shite, looking at his movie list, he's done some good ones.

So the OP ask what Idris has been good in..

Several people put "Stringer Bell"

And the OP responds with

HAHAHA...This guy obviously didn't know what Stringer Bell meant....So is questioning Elba, but has obviously never watched the Wire!!!!

Lol obviously never seen the best drama HBO ever put out there. Yes, The Wire was better than Sopranos and I was a huge Sopranos fan.

Luther is his best role, IMO.

His leading roles in films have been disappointing. Poor choices.

He's at his best using his natural accent. He seems too reserved in a lot of the roles trying to use an American accent (Stringer Bell, the office, etc.). Loses some of that natural swag

I remember a rumor a few years back that he was being considered as the next Bond. Craig is good but I would have really liked to see Elba. I think he would have been solid.

I thing Alex Cross would have been the perfect vehicle to get Idris what he deserves.

Building that around him as a franchise rather than making an abortion with Madea would have been incredible.

ETA: Posted before I saw someone else had mentioned Idris as Alex Cross. Glad to see others saw this as a huge wiff since IE would have been amazing in that role.
