I saw Lawrence of Arabia last year for the first time. I thought going in that there’s no way a 4 hour long movie could be good.

I was dead wrong. It’s freaking amazing.

Gone With the Wind
Citizen Kane
2001-a Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange

In truth, I've seen very small bits of the above movies, probably no more than 15 minutes worth and just couldn't get interested enough to watch them in their entirety.

These movies always make the top movie list of all time because of how they advanced filmmaking. Unless you are into the history of film, I’d say you are cool with skipping these.

Films listed in this thread like The Godfather or Casablanca should absolutely be seen because the story is timeless.

Someone listed Lawerence of Arabia. I avoided this movie my whole life because of the length. Finally saw it last year. Yeah it’s great. Wish I hadn’t avoided it all those years.

I've watched that movie about 4 times in its entirety in my life and it is well worth the investment in time.

Absolutely. LoA became a top ten personal favorite. It’s one of the few movies that successfully transports you to a time and place. The cinematography is unmatched.

Last Christmas my mom wanted to watch Die Hard because she loves Bruce Willis from Moonlighting and had never seen it. Plus theres the whole “is it/isnt it a holiday movie?” debate.

We watched it and i realized i had never seen the whole thing from start to finish but had seen bits and pieces of it a thousand times. Had never seen the ending where Karl Winslow saves the day.

All of the Indiana Jones movies.

Gone with The Wind

The Wizard of Oz - seen bits and pieces but don't recall sitting thru the whole thing

a lot of rated R movies produced in the 80s-early 90s bc I wasn't old enough and never went back to watch, examples:

Die Hard
Aliens
Predator
Scarface
Nightmare on Elm Street
Robocop

I've been on the hunt for a bluray copy of the theatrical version for years.
