This movie is very good. I really enjoyed it the first time yet watching it again reinforced just how well the movie was executed. The story and acting were both excellent and performed with subtlety and nuance; none of the maladroit exaggeration and crass delivery of the prequels.

I think the movie offers a lack of pretension not seen since the original trilogy, specifically The Empire Strikes Back. And while controversial, I enjoyed seeing Tarkin again. I also enjoyed seeing the Red and Gold squadrons along with the mustached pilots once again.

it did some things well and i liked the direction they took it but the characters were flat as hell and they quasi-botched Vader.

I honestly can't think of a major movie where I cared less for the characters than I did while watching Rogue One.

I saw it in theaters when it came out and I still don't remember the characters names.

It was a major disappointment.

I'm honestly confused how any star wars fan can not like this movie? If you're not into star wars, then cool I get it (I'll fricking fight you, but I get it). But if you claim to like the original then how can you not like rogue one? It's got everything good about Star Wars.

I still stand by everything I initially said. Didn't care for it and save for K2, all the characters sucked. I can't really describe any of them characterwise. If you saw this with no context of the Star Wars universe, it would be utterly forgettable and you'd be very confused by Darth Vader himself.

This movie got way too much of a pass by this board as a whole. I'd say it's worse than RotS, but certainly better than the other two prequels.

It was a million parsecs better than TFA.

Except for the fact every character in the entire movie died and I felt zero emotion

bullshite. Save for "rehash of A New Hope" or "Vader fricks up shite" give me one reason why it's better? The Force Awakens was great. Save for Captain Phasma, all the new characters really added to the universe. Rey's intro, Kylo interrogating Rey, and Han Solo's death were better than anything we got in Rogue One.

Tell me this: why is any of the first 2/3 of Rogue One relevant? Name me one fricking thing that is relevant in the first 2/3 of the movie? Would anyone have a hard time keeping up if they started the movie when they get back to Yavin 4? They learn nothing and there is no character development to speak of. Sure you may say to yourself that they learn that the Death Star has a weakness, but they knew where the plans were anyway. Why wouldn't they go extract them regardless?

The Force Awakens is a better film without question. Rogue One fails to justify its own existence.

It was better than the prequels in that it was fairly coherent and well executed, but the whole thing had no soul and was an empty, beautiful mess.

Didnt hate it, will watch again one day, but i sure dont ever think about it.

The real shame is that there is a kick arse movie in there, somewhere, but they botched it.

No shite. You'd be very confused about Gandalf if you only watched Return of the King.

The Lord of the Rings is a single 12 hour movie split into 3 parts. Rogue One is separate and provides you no context for who he is. Some weirdo in a suit who has links to the Emperor and Tarkin that does nothing in the plot. That's all you're given about him. You would be questioning why the frick he was there if you had no context.

You wouldn't be questioning about the same with Gandalf since he is highly active in the plot and you get a lot from him. You might be a bit confused if you hadn't seen the previous two movies, but you would certainly know where he fits into this.
