I'm right there with you. I'll watch most anything, and on the off-chance I don't like it, I'll just stop watching movies/shows that I find boring.

Well that settles it. Can we spinoff a Movie/TV Board Deaux with only the posters in this thread?

Yes...what an accurate description of the side with which you disagree.

And you wonder why there are arguments...

4. People who chime in on movies they haven't seen, but echo trending narratives from their tribe
5. People, like me, who speak for themselves & don't force their experience/opinion on others but can offer reasonable takes on a wide-range of genres/subjects.

This is funny.

2- Bad People Version 2
3- Bad People Version 3
4- Bad People Version 4
5- Awesome people, like me.

The obsessive topics and chatter about politics in every single thread has ruined this board, and TD as a whole. I will never understand why miserable people cannot just let others peacefully enjoy and discuss whatever they want to without feeling the need to give their contrived and counterproductive opinions that no one’s asked for.

If you can wade through that, there’s some posters among us that just like to be entertained and talk about stories, characters, etc. without it having to devolve into poli board lite discourse. Sadly that’s not as common as it once was.

Who doesn't want this? Seriously?

I've said it before and I mean it...I'm not the problem. I'm not bringing my politics to watching movies and TV. They creators of those things are bringing THEIR politics to their creations in such a profound and obnoxious way that they force me to. This is a two way street.

I sincerely miss when not EVERY movie was some attempt at pushing a one sided political message and was mostly about pure entertainment. But I'm not wrong for noticing what they have made abundantly clear.

The alternative is to act as if creators can speak their minds and vomit their politics everywhere but I as a lowly audience member can only shut up and hand them my money. Sorry, but nah.

The vast majority of woke messages in entertainment are brought up on this board not by people pushing a woke agenda, but by people that relish railing against the left. I wouldn't know about half of these films and programs if you people didn't insist on promoting them in here as examples of wokism. Every fourth thread is an AH HA! thread where some creator or feature is outed as being leftist. The Buzz Lightyear movie would've come and gone with nothing but a "Well, that wasn't as good as Toy Story", but instead it spent months on the front pages as everyone tried to outdo each other with their public damnations.

I watch movies to be entertained. Some are great movies some are just entertaining.

Like Star Wars. My favorite the original Star Wars. I may agree Empire is a better movie. But I love that first one.

Watch what you like and enjoy it.

People who like to critique movies tend to try to look too deep into it.

The problem is they compare every show to something like Sopranos or Breaking Bad when in reality those are the exception not the norm.

Subjective perceptions run amok.

quote:

eah there's been a few topics on here that's surprised me. I thought something was good and people shredded it, or vice versa. Power of the Dog comes to mind. No way in hell would I ever sit through that movie again but many on here defended it.

I couldn’t even finish that shite and seemed like most people agreed it was bad or at least mediocre.

Is this your first internet message board experience? Because your expectations sound incredibly naive.

Well no shite. You support the agenda so obviously you don’t like people calling out the agenda. God forbid. Mustn’t do that.

Obvious is obvious and you’re disingenuous as frick here
