I think I'm the lowest IQ person on this board

When I read some of the threads here I feel like I just walked into a 5 star restaurant with jeans on. I must be easily entertained. Shows and movies I find entertaining enough get torn to shreds here. Just a moment of self reflection. Thanks for listening.

Most of this board is a killjoy with the obsessive nature of politics/woke etc. Be glad to enjoy and not worry about some perceived agenda

Don't worry. I'll keep you company. I'm not really looking for deep meanings when watching the TV.
I just want something that keeps my attention for a little while.

I'm surprised you feel that way. There used to be actual discussion about movies a few years ago on this board. Now the debate never goes beyond if a movie has too many black people or if the women spoke too much.

Yeah there's been a few topics on here that's surprised me.
I thought something was good and people shredded it, or vice versa. Power of the Dog comes to mind. No way in hell would I ever sit through that movie again but many on here defended it.
Disclaimer: I am not a movie critic and next to you, I'm the second lowest IQ on this board.

Seems like a good quality to me.
I'd much rather be easily entertained than bitter and angry all the time.

I think any public forum discussing movies or music can be a microcosm of society from all walks of life, some louder than others. Here is no different, regardless of team affiliation.
You have:
1. Wannabe film critics (for blockbusters, award contenders/winners, independent films & art-house/college offerings)
2. Easily entertained, non-analytical simple folk who can't explain coherently why they like or dislike a show/film
3. Contrarians who bash anything considered popular and jizz over obscure crap
4. People who chime in on movies they haven't seen, but echo trending narratives from their tribe
5. People, like me, who speak for themselves & don't force their experience/opinion on others but can offer reasonable takes on a wide-range of genres/subjects.

Thanks for explaining the joke to us low IQ posters.

Is it really a 5 star restaurant? Who did the reviews? Were they paid or given special access to encourage positive reviews?

It’s all subjective so it doesn’t matter. If you enjoy something, who cares what anyone else thinks?

I'm all about overanalyzing movies on here, but sometimes the board is weird for sure.
I got inundated with downvotes because I said I watched Lightyear with my kid and thought it was pretty good.

Right there with ya buddy. I don't have a critique bone(boner?) in my body. I like what I like. I know who John Cassavetes was. I've seen the movies he acted in. Some of the ones he directed/wrote. Some of them suck. Some are good. Some were edited in his home with his wife, Gena Rowlands. I couldn't give you a simple synopsis from memory let alone a deep analysis of character motivation. I can tell you that if you love to watch Hocus Pocus you are an idiot. Even though I have watched The Godfather many, many times if it comes on tv I'm watching it.
