I streamed the original Star Wars last night. Han shot first.

Bored last night and was running Roku searches on old movies that are always out of stock on the streaming apps. Those old Doug McClure Edgar Rice Burroughs movies that they'd show at the drive-in popped up as being on the Movieland app.
Downloaded the app, we've discussed it before, it seems to be a pirate app that comes and goes, every film is listed as being from "2024", the quality varies from VHS SLP to almost decent.
So I click on "Star Wars" to see how the quality is and, lo and behold, no "Episode IV A New Hope" on the opening intro scroll. Seemed too good to be true, but there were no additional CGI creatures, and Han straight up murdered Greedo.

I never understood the “Han Shot First” controversy.
Does it matter? Greedo has a gun on him and is about to bring him to a mobster where Han is going to be fed to a rancor.
You can shoot that guy.
Also, the scene doesn’t make sense if Han shoots second. How does Greedo miss shooting someone across a table unless he was shot first.

Yeah, it does. The character was a ruffian a-hole who was willing to preemptively kill in order to save his skin. Georgie Porgie decided to change all of that and make him a super duper caring kind man that would never do such a heinous thing.
One's a pussy, the other is a badass.
Stop retconning shite, and fans especially need to stop asking "does it matter" and giving this nonsense a pass

I think I missed my point,
Why does it matter to people who want to argue he didn’t shoot first?
He’s justified in shooting Greedo.
You don’t need a guy to pull the trigger to have cause for self defense.
And how is this ever for debate before Lucas changed it?
Of course he shite first, why else would Greedo miss?

In the redo, Lucas wanted to create a shootout when there never was one. In the OG, Greedo never fired a shot. He threatened Solo and made the mistake of allow Solo to get his hand under the table and paid for it.

Of course he did. Han was not a good guy at the beginning of the movie. Why anyone wants to try to change that I do not understand.

Ah, fair enough. I did indeed miss what you were saying

I think I explained it poorly.

Period. End of story.
Han shot first, last, only. Greedo never pulled the trigger.

Greedo(greed) was green - the color of money. Han was making a statement about capitalism, duh.

you'll have to take this up with Turkey Neck George. he did it because he retroactively decided that he didnt want Han killing Greedo in cold blood (even though it wasnt really cold blood and Han wasnt supposed to be an angel anyways).
i have never met a single human being who think adding the Greedo shot first shite improved the film

Han did what needed done

Now and forever. Such a stupid change that added nothing to the film and actually made it look dumber by having Han survive the encounter only because Greedo missed a shot that should have been impossible to miss.

I bought the original unaltered trilogy in 4K quality on Etsy. So worth it. I grew up on that vhs box set from the 90s. You all know which one it was, the one that was marketed as THE LAST TIME….and they kept their promise because indeed it was the last time those movies were ever released officially.
Ahhh…I miss it when Star Wars was just 3 really good movies from the 70s & 80s

You mean the guy that left the group to save his own arse to only come back later for pussy?
That a-hole?

Of course he shot first and it wasn't his first time.
Now I hope you are still paying attention now I'm going to tell you the most important..

Yes, Han shot first. He wasn't a hero. He was a scoundrel. His character arc requires him to be selfish and loathsome at the beginning, and then he begins to care about something beyond himself as it goes on.
Han shot first. He had to. It's not a debate.
