It was something I can remember my older cousins watching when I was a little kid.

The premise was that this dude was really good at an arcade game where he was fighting aliens with a space fighter. He was so good at the game that aliens abducted him so that he could fly a space ship and win a war against bad aliens for them.

I just posted about it in the "less than 10%" thread and got yelled at for it being a lot more popular than I realized

I know none of my friends growing up ever heard of it, but I watched it all the time

around that same time period, Louis Gossett Jr was in a movie where he played a somewhat similar looking Alien that got himself Pregnant.
they used some turtle shells to hide from a meteor shower.

no clue what that one was called.

Very weird. I watched it as an adult and it wasn't near as good as I remembered it being. I still enjoyed it for the nostalgia factor though.

It's more than 10% *HERE*, but you're correct that most people don't know about it (outside of this board). That's a shame too; it's an incredibly fun movie.

Great movie. The 80s were just full of sci-fi movies that were cool stories and pretty experimental in their attempts. It was easier to make money back, even if it lost at the box office, with rentals. Streaming has killed at a lot of those mid-budget films.

I would think every boy in the 80s has seen The Last Starfighter. It came on cable pretty often.

The Last Starfighter and Enemy Mine were a staple of cable TV watching in the household.

Also, can’t mention The Last Starfighter without:

Yes, but someone else stole the show.
