I replied to you because it was the last post made in the thread. It had nothing to do with you.

I can tell you this. I do not doubt you’ve never heard anything like that from a character like Kyle. But that just tells me you haven’t spent any time with someone like Kyle. And even if you have, it still may not be something you would hear. I’ll leave it at that.

I can’t believe there are adults out there hung up on one throwaway line in a three hour Batman movie.

Any way it sticks because it’s NOT something a character like Selina Kyle would say.

A modern, young character who clearly has a ton of opinions about her employers and the people she serves? Sure, makes no sense at all.

Just finished it myself. Zoe Kravitz is attractive, but she was not very attractive in this film. The short hair is really not a good look for her.

Other than that, it's a pretty good Batman flick.

I'm about 2.5 hours in and I agree with pretty much everything Pandy has said. Not a horrible movie but nothing special.

Pattinson's Bruce Wayne is Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler

We'll have to agree to disagree. She looked great in all the hairstyles from the movie.

But to criticize Bruce for his “privilege” was shitty. Who’s the one strapping on the mantle night after night? Does his sacrifice not count?

It's his privilege though that allows him to do this. The Black and Brown people of Gotham don't have such privilege so they are unable to prevent crime or improve their communities. They must rely on the white savior. Catwoman resents this.

And no, his sacrifice "doesn't count". It's his race, his whiteness that has created the problems the Brown and Black people of Gotham have to live in.

Also, The Riddler himself said Batman has to pay for the sins of the father and now that Bruce has been godsmacked by his own father's corrupt brand of white privilege, he will most certainly pay reparations.

The Riddlers speech about Bruce Wayne getting all the sympathy about being an orphan does a much better job of getting the point across than throwing a buzz phrase in so we all know how woke the film makers are

This is an excellent point.

White privilege isn't a thing. It's just a racist term meant to place the blame for the inadequacies and failures of some people on an entire race of other people.

This is so devoid of thoughtfulness or logic that it's terrifying.

This is such a stupid reply. The writers intentional use a buzz phrase in a way that makes no sense that’s designed to get a response and when people respond it’s “I can’t believe you’re hung up on it”. It. The line itself here doesn’t detract from the movie necessarily but it’s is evidence of trying to shoe horn “woke” politics into everything.

Enjoyed an average Bat Man movie. If you don't say it's the best Bat Man movie ever losers on here will lose it. Could have been better, and could have been worse. Not worth watching again. Adding in the woke nonsense for no reason is apart of what makes it average. It added nothing to the movie, they just wanted to add that garbage in to an already too long movie.

No it doesn’t. If she was a college student or recent grad it maybe would make some sense but that’s not what we’re told a about the characters back ground. Someone like her does not use critical theory buzz terms in conversation like that.

If the mayoral candidate said it about the Mayor in the debate THAT would make sense. Not Catwoman talking to Batman trying to find her missing hooker friend.

The term may be misused and overused but I have lived a life where being a white guy has put me in the job and social pools that were much harder for black guys to enter. With the racial mix of Baton Rouge, me consistently being in all to near-all white management teams is no accident of fate.

I’m not complaining, but sitting in a conference room with twenty white people in Baton Rouge isn’t by the luck of the draw.

Not that I’m an expert on Critical Theory but I think what you are describing is more “systematic racism” but you didn’t get there by luck or your race but rather on hard work and choices. These are complicated issues that can’t be boiled down to simple maybe monocausal explanations
