The biggest flaw of the movie for me is that the area where it could have stood out from other Batman movies (him being more of a detective and The Riddler playing mind games with him) was very lackluster. Everything else was a mediocre version of the Batman mythos that we’ve seen a thousand times before but not done as well.

But it's not a "throw away line".
The phrase white privilege has become one of the most divisive and corrosive pieces of language I think I've heard in my life and it was used to attack the viewer. Some people though are just too frickin' stupid to know they're being attacked.
To be called white privileged today is more destructive than to be called a Nazi or a klansman, because the left
can attach it to any white person in this country who has a job and a home.
No, my man there's nothing "throwaway" about it. The phrase white privilege is designed to stir feelings of strong hatred and among many, it works. The line was unnecessary and inserted to convey the socio-politics of those who made the movie.
There were many ways the director could've made his point without encouraging hatred. The phrase white privilege does that and this notion that it only stirs hate for wealthy whites is a lie. Because as far as the left is concerned, if you're white and middle class, you should be hated too because you have white privilege as well.
If you're white, you're privileged and that's just the way it is. White privilege is rapidly becoming a racial slur.
Anyway, like I said. I can easily overlook shite like this if the movie is good but because this movie sucked, it only heightens flaws like this.
It's ok with me though that you liked it.

Pattinson was an awesome Batman, but I’d almost say miscast as Bruce Wayne.
I loved the movie overall though. This and Batman begins are the two best batman movies IMO.

It was mediocre at best. Disappointed to say the least. Only saving grace was the detective slant. The finale in Gotham City Garden was ludicrously bad.

I liked the movie but I definitely rolled my eyes after the white privilege line. It was ridiculous and unnecessary.

Yeah it was an eye roller for sure. And like I've said, I can overlook shite like that if I like what I'm watching.
But on the subject though of Catwoman. I liked how she would mock Batman by continually referring to him as Vengeance in this snotty, obnoxious tone. She sort of emasculated and pussified him a bit. It was an interesting dynamic between those two.

I honestly overlooked the "white privilege" line as something a self-satisfied, untethered wild card like Selina Kyle would say, and in that sense, I didn't even give it another thought. The Batman is constantly correcting her about her behavior and thought processes, so it can be interpreted as another misguided castaway line by a little girl who is mad at the world because her white daddy gangster cast her away from his life like a stray animal. I have no idea what the scriptwriter intended with the line, but for my own viewing pleasure, I'm actually going to chalk it up as a character flaw.
I thought the movie was very, very good until the 7 vans; Gotham Square Garden let-down. Some people have pointed out some interesting flaws, too, like the security guard just happening to be there to show Batman that the murder weapon was a carpet stuffer, or the fact that the pictures of the Russian girl outside the club were literally taken from the Riddler's apartment.
Final Verdict 7 out of 10.

That was my biggest issue with the film. They would've been better off using that time showing more of the devastation to the city, and batman saving more people. I think that would've been more impactful.

You could argue Batman does more for Gotham than Bruce ever could with dollars. And he’s paying for his fathers sins by wearing the chains of the mantle of the Bat while the city will never know that their #1 spoiled little rich kid is actually their savior. But the movie never really got there with this.

I don’t know what your point is with that pic, I said what I said regarding how I watched the movie and my take. That pic is on a completely different topic—especially since I didn’t watch it the first day it was on HBO Max.

Fascinating how no one can ever defend “wokeness” without name calling, rather telling.
Any way it sticks out because it’s NOT something a character like Selina Kyle would say. “White privilege” started as an academic term, then was used by professional activist and sympathetic politicians becoming a buzz phrase. She is the daughter of a hooker who got knocked up by a mob boss raised in an orphanage. She lives in squalor on the verge of eviction working at a club moonlighting as a petty burglar. People like that generally speaking don’t usually use woke” terms like that. The people that do are elite leftist of the laptop class, you know like screen writers and actors whose parents and grandmother are are rich and famous actors/musicians.
The Riddlers speech about Bruce Wayne getting all the sympathy about being an orphan does a much better job of getting the point across than throwing a buzz phrase in so we all know how woke the film makers are
