How out of place is Brother Mouzone in The Wire?

I love The Wire but going through another rewatch and to me it really stands out how over the top he is.
Almost every character in this show seems so realistic and believable except for him. He’s a characterture which I know is kind of the point but he just seems out of place in the show

I agree, but I still like the character.

I don't appreciate the tone you have taken with this thread, but I'll allow you to live. Make sure your uneducated arse relays my message to your "boys" on the street corners. Good day.

I have two "hot takes" about the wire.
1) Brother Mouzone was an absolutely ridiculous character. I can barely watch scenes he's in.
2) Omar isn't much better. A gay gangster who's been robbing B'mores biggest drug dealers for years? Jack boys get got quick. There was nothing about Omar that made him untouchable.

after he robbed the d's stash spot, avon's people should have been all over him and there'd be money on his head.

He was tough to get because he was smarter than 99% of the other guys in the game. Also the fact that he didn’t have a “crew” meant that he could disappear into the wind basically whenever he wanted

Omar was based off of a real person.
Donnie Andrews

Being fair to his point, Donnie Andrews was convicted on a double murder and sentenced to life in prison. So i guess he wasn’t as elusive as Omar

There was a guy in Shreveport in the 2002-2004 time frame that robbed drug dealers and killed six or seven of them. His crew had everyone so scared that no one would testify against them. He eventually went to federal prison for being a felon in possession of ammunition. Never got prosecuted for any of the homicides or robberies.
