I have them all on bluray and haven't thought a moment about them since watching the end of season 8. It is amazing how that works. i have done about 3 complete rewatches of Fringe, Chuck and even Smallville but haven't given GOT a second thought.

still some of the greatest tv seasons in history. Season 4 is in the top tier list of greatest tv ever.

But frick that ending. GRRM let’s D&D in on Bran becoming king at the end of the series, you would think the they would build him up as a likeable character who defies all odds against him to overcome all obstacles and use his powers to save the world, but nope. Starting in season 7 the writers turned him into a creepy unlikable and boring character that is like a half assed version of Dr. Manhattan minus the charm or philosophy.

It is one of the most disgraceful things in the history of TV what they did with Bran's character. All that build up the first few seasons to turn him into a total retard of a character with so much wasted potential

It’s completely freakin true.

GOT is toxic to me now. And this is coming from one who rewatches things endlessly.

I'm not sure "math" allows for dividing by zero.

That would be an irrational number. Which is coincidental because of the reaction to this virus.

I have never watched an episode, given the negativity surrounding the last season is it still worth watching the first 7?

What they did to Jaime Lannister is by far worse imo.

I'd give it a shot if you have spare time. The first 4 seasons are fantastic, with 5 and 6 being good. Enjoy the ride, and just know you're going to leave with a bitter taste in your mouth.

Season 1-6 are definitely worth watching if you haven’t seen them.

Season 7 isn’t as good as those but still has some great episodes.

My advice is to watch the series, and stop after Ep 3 of season 8. People grumble about the first few episodes, but those 3 at least close a major arc. After that, let it go and just use your imagination. Wherever you come up with, it will be better than what occurs on screen.

The only good episode was episode 2 that lead up to the final fight with the Night King, and that is because it was character focused and lacked story that writers couldn't screw up. Then the ball was dropped hard. It felt so lazy how the storyline was hastily wrapped up so they could move to King's Landing. The series foreshadowed for five books that the two storylines would merge together for one big climatic ending....nope. Let's don't allow to Wakers to get past Winterfell. All those prophecies that pointed toward Jon or Dany....out the window.

Then Arya was ruined by shoehorning her into a story that wasn't hers. The writers had no idea where her story was going the entire series. They trusted George would clue them in I guess.

Yeah the Long Night episode sucked so bad. Both the books and the show foreshadowed the walkers invading Westeros. But instead we got a blue ballsing. By the end of the episode I was so disappointed on how anticlimactic they ended that major storyline that I had zero hope for the last 3 episodes. By the time everyone lost their minds over the finale, I was long checked out.

"Who has a better story than Bran the Broken?"

I don't know...but it's definitely not someone whose story was so unimportant to the plot that he didn't appear at all in season five.

This is what happened in season 8, after some woke culture invaded the writers room.

First off, it was stupid to frick with the inevitability of where the story had placed each character. Most characters were on a path, with some minor deviations, both male and female.

What did we get?

D&D took all the male characters and made them less relevant and disempowered from their own earned stories.

Then they took all the female characters and propped them up and forced them into storylines they didnt earn over the first 7 seasons.

As has been stated, why did Arya kill the night king when Jon Snow had obviously been the one to bring that story to fruition. Does that mean he needed to be the hero and save the day? No, but he needed to play a significant role for that to entire plot that had been developed to pay off.

Brienne sleeping with Jaime Lannister? Really? What was the point of that story other than to satisfy some 3rd wave feminist fantasy that the hot dreamy knight wants to sleep with her?

Dany became mad queen faster than Anakin turning to the dark side? Definitely not earned, but I'm sure the writers enjoyed their femoid power trip playing out in a fantasy.

Then you had Tyrion become a total bitch boy to Dany. Tyrion who had run his witty mouth over 7 seasons, even in the face of his own murder trial, somehow drops all of that when it came to Dany just in that season? Tyrion would have been better served dying off drunk and insulting the stupidity of others instead of what he became.

Then the entire part where the noble northerners became violent rapists/killers out of nowhere? Why?

Honestly they would have been better off being cliche to finish it out than trying to subvert expectations.

Season 8 really felt so out of place.. like totally new show runners who know nothing of what had taken place the previous 7 seasons just walked in and made 6 episodes
