It’s basically split into two stories, one flashback and one real time.

I’m enjoying the real time story and want to see where it goes. But I could not possibly be more disinterested in the flashback. Tough to see why it’s there or how it at all connects to the current plot.

So given that about 50% of the show focuses on the flashback, I’m really not enjoying the show, personally.

Explains Boba’s survival and I think the flashbacks are eventually going to tie everything together with it being personal between Boba and our apparent villains from end of episode 3

I'm going to take a different tack than most and say I think the problem, for lack of a better term, is the show runner. Robert Rodriguez. I know Favreau is writing the scripts and I am sure Filoni has chimed in on things but ultimately this is Robert's show.

The problem with that is Robert Rodriguez is very hit or miss with his work. His good stuff is good, but his bad stuff is terrible, particularly when dealing with special effects. He is a solid enough B movie guy. But he is a B movie guy. For everything he has done where you would say "Wow, that was great" he has two other things that have the stench of grisly death upon them.

I get showing him get out of the pit; that was fine. And I also assume it’ll connect in the grand scheme of the story, and I agree it will be through the new villain.

But that backstory is taking up literally half of the show. And it’s really hard to get into that story when we know where it leads. If they want to go this route for some big, grand connection, fine, maybe it will payoff. But in the short term, show at least some small connection between the two. Have him use some of the fighting skills he acquired, or maybe establish some emotional connection across time periods… anything to connect those two plots.

At this point, we’re more than 40% of the way through the season and it feels like we’ve been given two separate, entirely unconnected stories. I’m just not a fan of that setup. A full season of post-sarlac pit, rise to power would have been more enjoyable than this back and forth jumping.

Not to post spoilers here but they already did that with the Pyke alliance in Ep 3

I hate how many dark scenes they have in Boba and the mandelorian. Sky dark, indoors dark not evil dark. Guess they save on scenery or movie set details. 65 inch screen and it makes me squint watching it.

I don't think the show itself is bad, but so far it doesn't feel like he's the legendary bad arse we've always imagined. They're trying to flesh out his character by giving him a code that he sticks to so he isn't always killing everyone, but in the process they've made him...passive is probably the closest word I can think of.
i cant believe they renamed 'slave1'.

It's not following the storylines that guys played out with their action figures in the 1980's
The same guys who showed up for the premiere of The Phantom Menace dressed as Boba Fett!
One of the guys I went with wore a Boba Fett tee. We saw it on the largest screen in Texas in 1999. One guys kids went and got in line early for us.

The detail is there it is presented in 4k and HDR10.

The issue is either too much ambient light, a set that doesn't produce high enough nits, the set is poorly calibrated or it could be your eyes.

More directors have been cutting straight to video closer to theatrical releases both in sound and picture for several years now due to the advances in HT equipment but it has caused a fair amount of complaints about both sound and picture from the average person whose equipment is less than steller or is poorly calibrated, the latter is far more likely if the components are fairly new. I would bet 90% of equipment have had zero in-home calibration and less than half of the remaining 10% are calibrated well.

Boba Fett is a badass, always has been and always will be. But he's not a dialog-heavy character and this show is missing real dialog to make a cohesive plot. As much as I like the character of Boba Fett I never thought he was enough by himself to carry an entire show. He needs a strong supporting cast for it to work. Just my $.02, still going to watch it.

It's honestly pretty terrible. Slow, boring, bland show. Even the planet it's on is boring and bland. The lead says 3 lines per episode. The fights are season 5 game of thrones goofy.

I keep watching hoping for some big "baby yoda" type development.

Yep. That's it. The image I saw was them riding down the middle of the street, flanking BF, and it was super cringe.

So I was right, after all. And yet some clowns still chose to downvote me?

OK princesses.

I'm just tired of EVERYONE being changed into a good guy.

Boba Fett was supposed to be this bad arse bounty hunter. Now he just walks around and talks shite.. gives everyone second chances.. never kills unless he gets attacked.. not even a bounty hunter anymore.

Tusken Raiders.. these wild desert people who were tough and scary.
Now they are the American indians who are getting their land taken away.

Rancors were basically T rex's and awesome. now they are gentle and only fight because they are bred by bad people to fight?

Is Moff Tarkin going to show up next as a gentle old person who escaped but changed his ways?

Remember when Vader was talking to the collection of bounty hunters, and tells them " I want them alive, and NO disintegrations ", as he's looking directly at Boba Fett? He's making it abundantly clear he doesn't want any screw ups, like has happened in PREVIOUS times he's worked with the vile scum. BF being the worst among them.

Doesn't sound like this is Boba Fett to me.

Part of what made Mandalorian great was the constant tension that a BH sent to kill Grogu was always possible.
