Didn't realize that I'd posted in the E4 thread...
The Lannister host marching with a live fricking lion is so ridiculously on-brand.

every important event happens off screen. Boring.
This. Exactly this. Battle over there, don’t show it just talk about it. Someone committed an atrocity, just tell us about that too. Whole cities burned, let’s have the queens have the same conversation…again. 8/9 hours of showtime for maybe15 minutes of action. This show has as much appeal as a warm tuna sandwich. When the episodes are an hour plus and people get excited from seeing a dragon for 3 minutes you know it’s trash.

You didn't even have a Targaryen on the throne at that point.
They definitely addressed those 2 issues in the wrong order. After the WW are defeated, Cersei seems like small fish. They should have taken the throne and then met the WWs with the whole of the 7 Kingdoms.

and the dragon
and then Daenerys goes insane when she figures out that the realm just needed her nukes and the wheel really is broken and there’s nothing special about her or her family
it was all there for them…

I'm assuming it was all due to budgetary reasons, so it's not like they could cut down from 10 episodes to 8 and still put in things that make sense like the Battle in the Gullett or the Fall of KL.
I can understand that, but what’s puzzling is that there are plenty of other ways they could have made the finale feel like a conclusion to the season without having a huge, expensive battle.
The way it’s written really seems like they took the exact script for a 10-episode season and straight up chopped off the last two episodes. Makes me wonder how far along they were whenever their budget got slashed.

What a fricking waste of a season finale. I should have thrown in the towel halfway into this season when I had the urge to give up, but I was weak and didn't.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool twice, shame on me. They're not going to fool me a third time. I'm out until the series is done and I hear it's worth finishing.

It is. It also makes you appreciate what a badass Tywin was and how much influence he had in bringing respect to his house. They were always rich but Tywin made them a force to be feared.
Watching a lot of the dynamics of the various houses during HOTD makes me want to go back and re-watch the first couple of GOT seasons, if for a deeper understanding of the locales and the palace intrigue.

Now the queens talk AGAIN
The writer’ room must be stock full of women and gay men for the climax of the entire season to be a little bitchy spilling the tea session between two female alphas they are trying to prop up.
Could we not at least have had some kind of action to end on???

I mean the theme of the whole show is that Men in charge=psycho destruction while women in charge=measured, well calculated risks. Despite the book's theme being dragon warfare destroys everything.

This is what is missing in this series IMO. I realize that it is a story of an internecine war, but the role of the other houses is what we are missing that could have widened the experience. In GOT we got interaction with the houses of Tyrell, Greyjoy, Lannister, Stark, Martell, Bolton, Baratheon, Tully etc. I know that the focus is on the Targaryean Civil War, but not allowing the machinations and actions behind the other houses such as Lannister, Blackwood, Bracken, Baratheon, and Stark in this season was missing a beat IMO. I Iiked Daemon's arc even though it dragged on a bit too much without spark. Hell, they even could have shown Aemond and Vhagar burning Sharp Point and looking ready for the coming war as a final frame of reference and it would have been appreciated. There was no "boom" to finish like there was last season with Aemond and Lucerys. I'm still loving it, but just a tad disappointed with the final bite the meal this season.. Until the next time we feast I suppose.

If they really didn’t give them 10 episodes then HBO deserves ridicule but god damn the filler in this season was unnecessary bloat even with that caveat

Otto was sorely missed during the last few episodes. That plus Daemon being stuck in Harenhall took two of the best characters out of the balance of the show this season
They had to kneecap two of the best male characters to promote the female boss babes. That’s the E in DEI at work.

Do you think the show runners see the criticism and make adjustments or do yall think they see it and think "these people don't know art." ?

If history is any indicator they will dig in and double down

Something I missed during the vision: our first look at the Green men.

Bloodraven and the green men along with the Night King. They’re trying to retroactively make the last few seasons of GOT lore seem like it meant something

I would agree if HBO wasn't trying so hard to make this world their cash cow. They have another show that will air in 2025, this show has season 3 in 2026, and they are developing at least 3 other shows in the Westeros world. If they let HotD wither away to season 8 GOT level trash then they risk losing their audience for the other shows.

Agreed but why would they short change them on episodes if they want to build the universe as their centerpiece? It is poor decision making all around
