Rhaenyra now has five children and is pregnant with her sixth. From Harwin Strong: Jacaerys (who she calls Jay) Lucerys (who she calls Luc)
So Rhaenyra with the original travel ball names.

Paddy Considine has acted his arse off in this. Really hope he gets some awards love for it.
He really distinguished himself in this episode. The pain, the determination, his desire for peace among the family -- all were portrayed beautifully. His walk to the throne was a masterpiece.
And dammmmmmnnnnnn, Aemond appears to be the only person that will approach and possibly supercede Daemon as baddest arse in the show, but he has a way to go to beat that head-choppin'. Matthew Smith is continuing to knock it out of the park, even when he says almost nothing.
Vaemond was a fool. Not wrong, but a fool. No way you live after that display.
Daemon's mistress is giving me Melisandre vibes for some reason.
Every time I hear "Prince That Was Promised" I am pissed at GoT again.

Highly recommend the after-show clip on HBOMax for anyone who has access. The actor has some great commentary on the character and how it went down.

He wasn't a fool. He wasn't going to live as a second son, fading out of existence. He knew he was on borrowed time and decided to go out like a boss.

Pure speculation, but maybe he learned that his brother was just fine and this is his last ditch effort to turn him against Rhaenyra.

Not a lore expert, but pretty sure the promised king is John Snow (Aegon) in the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy, who would lead the seven kingdoms against the night king and the long night. But D&D fracked that all up because Martin was too freaking lazy to finish his series.
It has not really been resolved or made explicit in the books yet, but there are strong hints for several characters, particularly Jon and Dany.

I thought it was just moon tea. Why would she pay her off if she was killing her?
So she wouldn't be suspicious of drinking the tea. Alicent is ruthless. Killing and making people disappear is the only way to silence the negative comments that could be made about the potential future King.
Thought it was wild how everyone was so quick to go and petition Alicent and Otto for Seadrift when Sea Snake hasn't even died yet. Weird that there isn't more of the family around to tell the uncle/brother to chill the frick out. He wasn't wrong though. He would have the most experience and capability as commander of the fleet.

Maybe they will fix it with the new Jon Snow series

I mean… dead women don’t need morning after tea and you don’t need to poison her to make her “disappear.”

I thought that it was just plan B tea.

I'm interested to see where Team Alicent now stands given her complicity in Aegon's rape and seeming murder of Aegon's servant victim.
I am totally with Alicent and have been during the whole show. I thought the girl was given an abortive type of drink. The rape is horrible. But I'd think a prince could have sex with his servants whenever he wanted. They are usually slaves. Only looks bad through a modern lens. His mom chastised him pretty good. But they should have means to satisfy his urges (dedicated sex workers).
Alicent really has no choice in all of this. Once the King dies, there will be war. Her kids would be murdered and her line whipped out. They are fighting for survival and her son is the rightful hier.
I don't understand why the Princess wants the thrown or why she didn't abdicate to protect her children. They are part Targaryen no matter what. Would have entitled lives. It seems like it is setting up the new princes, new kids with Daemon, as the true heirs now..

Huh? I just binged and caught up on the show. Do most people hate Alicent or think she is in the wrong?
When the King dies, wouldn't a big portion of the lords recognize Alicent and her heirs as the legitimate line? There would be a war. Right?

Really good episode. But it's kind of funny that everyone kind of just went on with their day after Vaemond was brutally killed in from of the entire court.
Anyway, I think the episode did a fairly good job of setting the course for each of the "children". It's a little hard to keep up with all of them, though.

Rhaenys made it clear she was backing Rhaenyra and Lucerys. That was the only other Velaryon there. The guards he came there with probably chose to stand down once they saw which way the acting head of house Rhaenys was for.

Only traitors to the Crown. Viserys made very public shows about him naming Rhaenyra as heir and never once reneged on that decision.
