I think in traditional lines of succession the brother would come before a daughter's daughter.
The line was Laenor -> Jac -> Luc -> Vaemond
Obviously Jac was out since he was heir to the iron throne, which take precedent to the driftwood throne.

Technically he wasn’t even Corlys’ brother

I checked and apparently the actor is only 20, but he could pass for 35 easily

He wasn’t his brother? What do you mean?
Side note: I think it’s awesome that we saw someone get their head cut off not at the neck. Like sometimes people just miss a little and that happens!

In the books he’s Corlys’ nephew, not his brother.

I'm interested to see where Team Alicent now stands given her complicity in Aegon's rape and seeming murder of Aegon's servant victim.

Just wanted to stop in to say everyone is so screwed Aemond has grown into a cold blooded killer, Aegon seems to be a stupid twat, and the strong bastards appear weak.
Aemond about to crush all these idiots.

God damn do they have to spell all the kids names so close.
So obviously the crazy king was out of his mind and thought he was talking to his daughter at the end, but what kid was he talking about?

but what kid was he talking about?
It was a dream that Aegon the conqueror had that had been passed down through the Targ rulers.

Near the end there was a scene with a woman speaking with Daemon's old whore. Does anybody know what that was all about? I was trying to figure out why that scene would be in there.
It was obvious Alicent covered up the rape of the servant girl, paid her off and gave her a morning after drink, but a previous poster mentioned she had her killed. I didn't catch that. Her kids are monsters though. Aemon raping girls and the other one a psychopath.

“Beast beneath the boards” is probably a rat or a comment on Larys as a metaphorical rat.

Not a lore expert, but pretty sure the promised king is John Snow (Aegon) in the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy, who would lead the seven kingdoms against the night king and the long night. But D&D fracked that all up because Martin was too freaking lazy to finish his series.

Ya it was poison. Alicent made the servant suicide. alicent said 'best to be sure' or something like that and was hugging people asking about the servant. Pretty sure she dead

This has been an awesome first season.
He really shouldn't of had his back to Daemon when he said that.

Agreed, because every single time they mention of "the prince that was promised" it's just like a slap in the face.

I assumed when it was happening that the drink was poison, but since there was no follow up maybe it was just plan B tea and she let her go.
I was wondering about this too. This makes sense.

I thought it was just moon tea. Why would she pay her off if she was killing her?
