Yeah, I just don't get it. really its more of an insult than anything else. Hey we change the race of a character to AA so you will watch! Stupid because it does work.
I do think its funny though when people get their panties in a wad over an inaccurate depiction in a movie of a character from a literary work of fiction, but never a peep when Christ has never been accurately depicted on screen base on how he is described in a book base on fact. LOL

I look at this the same way I look at the changes to The Sandman, if the creator supports it then all folks can do is turn it off if they don't like it.
GRRM is fully behind this show, so it's alright with him and what he's established as lore in the ASOIAF universe.
ETA: If I remember correctly from Fire and Blood they don't mention his skin tone, just hair. It's just assumed he'd have the typical Targaryen pale skin trait.
