“Horror” movie recommendations

I have never enjoyed being scared. I always avoided horror movies out of fear of nightmares. I do, on the other hand, enjoy murder/mystery and things like that.
I’m trying to take a conscious effort to give horror a chance. I don’t like excessive gore (Saw was really stupid), and I don’t like zombie movies, but I really enjoyed classic Scream, Skeleton Key, and the Happy Death Day movies (didn’t think they were scary, but it was incredibly fun). I’ve also watched a lot of classic cheesy black and white monster movies from the 30’s-50’s.
What are some other horror movies y’all would recommend I watch that might be good for someone who’s kinda dipping their toes in the genre?

Terrifier one and two. Apparently both are critically-acclaimed.

I don't have much to work with, here.

What are you looking for?
Atmosphere? Horror-comedy? Social commentary?
You said you don't like gore. Is some gore that works OK? I don't mean torture porn, just intense moments with some violence/blood? Also, I presume this doesn't apply to horror comedies?
I can give you some recommendations that are nothing like the movies you listed but more in the mystery/discovery sense. These are non-traditional and nothing like the slasher type movies you listed.
A Dark Song
Kill List
The Wailing*
The Empty Man
Baskin (may be a little extreme for you but if you want to see possibly the best "go to hell" movie ever, this is it)
Pulse*
Mandy*
Hellraiser*
Hellraiser 2*
The Endless*
Let the Right One In*
Here are some more traditional horror:
House of the Devil*
Hereditary
Prince of Darkness
The Dark and the Wicked*
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the GOAT)
I am a sucker for found footage. Here are some recs there:
The Sacrament*
The Conspiracy (2012)*
Troll Hunter
V/H/S 2*
Final Prayer*
Savageland
Alien Abduction (2014)
The Poughkeepsie Tapes*

Trick 'r Treat is a great Halloween movie to watch. You get a little taste of a couple different styles. Plus it is just a really solid movie and great for a Halloween watch.
Cabin in the Woods would be another that has some elements of different genres, while also being a fantastic satire. Great way to ease into stuff.
The Conjuring and Insidious movies are really solid ones to get the blood pumping some with some good suspense and jump scenes.

I can handle a little blood and guts, I just find that some movies (like Saw) tend to use gore in place of plot. I don’t like gore for the sake of gore.

None of the movies I listed should be a problem, then, except maybe Baskin.

Same. I hate gory stuff and demonized stuff. You couldn't pay me to watch The Exorcist
My list:
1. Psycho (1960). The GOAT horror movie
2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
3. Scream (1996)
4. Halloween (1978)
5. The Thing (1982)
No need for me to get into weird, gory, demon possessed stuff to enjoy a good horror film. Just give me a good creepy story and I'm good.

Jacobs Ladder (1990)
The Shining and its sequel Dr .Sleep
Hereditary
The Color out of Space (some brutal body horror)
Misery
Exorcist 1,3
The Ring
Stir of Echoes
The Serpent and the Rainbow
The Hitcher

Check out Guillermo's Cabinet of Curiosities on Netflix. Each episode is it's own story, eight total. Really good.

It Follows or The Black Phone

The Woman in Black. More traditional, very little blood and lots of creepy atmosphere.

If you haven't seen The Ring I think you'd like it. Really not gory at all and it's a mystery movie at its core

I'd recommend 1978 Halloween. No gore and one of the best Horror movies ever made, and slam-dunk perfect for today.
