Home Sweet Home Alone (2021) Disney+ movie

After reading some of the reviews, it sounds to me like the writers did a terrible job of trying to subvert expectations. The two primary antagonists are apparently a mother and father who are being foreclosed on and are attempting to steal from this house to save their kids from going hungry and homeless. The Kevin McAllister of the story, a fat British kid named Max, is a spoiled rich brat who spends the entire third act knocking these two around with LEGOs, billiard balls, and fire. That's just what we want to see this holiday season: a pair of desperate parents getting beat up by a spoiled rich kid. Laugh out loud fun for sure.

Figured it would be bad when I saw they were doing it, but that plot sounds horrible.
The only part that peaked my interest was I saw the cop's name was McCallister and thought it would be cool if it was the same actor that played Buzz in the originals. Thankfully, IMDB saved me from having to see anymore of it to find out.

As someone that's been pleasantly surprised with a lot of the Disney+ original programming, I'll be skipping this one.

Despite the inherent ugliness of watching a rich kid diabolically dig into a mom and dad who are just trying to save their home for the sake of their own children
Do they try to break into the house? If yes, I have no sympathy. They're lucky the kid doesn't have a dad like me who has taught every kid over the age of 10 how to load and shoot a gun.

Yes. But apparently only because they are trying to get back something that the main protagonist stole from them.
quote:
After hearing a story of someone who turned their trash into treasure at auction, Jeff remembers his mother’s collection of German antique porcelain dolls stored in their bedroom closet. His research reveals there’s one in particular — a lederhosen-clad boy with an upside-down head — that could rescue the family from their financial woes as it’s worth over $200K. However, when he goes to look for it, he sees it’s missing and knows just who took it: spoiled 10-year-old relative stranger Max Mercer (Archie Yates), who visited their recent open house. The timing couldn’t be worse as Max’s mom (Aisling Bea), who’s Tokyo-bound with her extended family, has mistakenly left her son home alone. Convoluted and over-explained hijinks ensue as the harried marrieds break into Max’s manse in an attempt to get the family heirloom back.
Grace Randolph said she had to fast forward through the entire break-in scene because the movie set these two up so sympathetically as parents who were just trying to save themselves and their family from financial ruin. It's compounded by the fact that they're breaking in to steal back what was stolen from them.

This is ridiculous,I admit, but I have no desire to see sweet Erin get knocked around trying to get back something that was hers stolen by a little English twit.

Only thing missing is some sort of race or gender swap, or a trans character, for the producers to use as a strawman excuse to attack audiences who flush this turd right down the toilet where it belongs.

Apparently this is the 6th installment. Did anyone know there even existed a 5th movie?

I can't imagine caring this much about Home Alone 6.

I knew it would be bad when the trailer had the most cliche holiday movie music in it.

Home Alone and Home Alone 2 are the only canon Home Alone movies.

the main kid in this movie was an a-hole before the criminals broke in

Yep. Seen them all too actually.
They used to play on Starz all the time and I'm the type to leave the same movie channel on all day.
I'll save you the time. 3-5 all stink and get progressively cheaper looking as they go though that does make sense b/c they went theatrical, ABC, ABC Family in order of release.
4 is probably the worst b/c while it's the only one of the 3 that uses the McCallister family and Marv characters (w/completely different actors) it has the parents as now divorced and French Stewart playing Marv (who also no longer works with Harry).
Scar Jo has one of her early roles in 3 FWW.

That sucks then. If they aren't villains, the whole thing is pointless.

I'm pissed that Disney chose not to diversify their cast from the original and make the burglars Black.
