Now what if the girl no. 31 Barneys baby mama becomes the chick from How I Met Your Father.

there were so many on here that argued that there was no way she was dying, and that Ted wasn't going to end up with Robin.
Ted never ended up with Robin.
He ends up on her porch at the end.
It's not like we've never seen that happen and end up failing before.

They absolutely killed Barney's and Robin's characters when they put them together. That is my biggest beef with the show. I can handle Ted and Robin ending up together because it was obvious from the beginning. But them ruining Barney's character, and making Robin the woman version of Barney, sucked.

That would be interesting, but they keep preaching it would be completely independent.

I agree completely, they should of used the stripper for this instead of Robin.

Dude, you know that was implied. When she knew that marrying Barney was a mistake, she knew she blew it with Ted. She even said so to Lily at the costume party. Sorry dude, but the writers definitely had them getting back together, whether they did on screen or not.

It's like they completely forgot the Barney/Robin storyline ever happened.

I agree. Knowing what we know now, there was no need to have them marry each other. You could've introduced a long term guest character, like Paul Rudd on Friends, to become a Robins love interest and make Ted go through all this letting go but not really letting go shite and kept robin and Barney closer to their early season characters

Baloo made this whole big post about HIMYM was better than having a character like the Fonz and that he needed to grow up. Kinda bit her a bit when he bailed and went back to his old ways til he had the kid. He will probably go back when the kid gets older, he said it best, that is just who he is...
To be fair, I think that post was spot on. I think the show screwed up by not letting it follow that route, and Barney's schtick was just kinda sad and pathetic in the finale, because we had watched him "grow up" in the past couple of seasons.
I'm not as mad at Ted/Robin as I am what they did with Barney.
I'm disappointed in the finale, but I guess it was their plan all along so I'll accept it and still enjoy rewatching.

The only thing I liked about this episode was that the kids called out Ted for talking about Robin the whole time instead of the mother. frick Ted.

I'll always assume they didn't get back together because it wasn't shown.
Sorry. I'm not going to let the writers bail themselves out of their previous bullshite.

WTF are you talking about? I'm saying that last scene with the kids talking about robin must've been filmed in the first or second season bc the two kids are actually in their mid 20's now. Which means the writers knew the whole time, maybe from the pilot, what everything was leading up to
I read an article at the beginning of the season about all of this. Yes, they filmed the ending with the kids very early in the series. They didn't know how long the series would last and didn't want the kids to have aged 10 years during teds story should the series last that long, so they shot that part with them early so they would still be young. Also, the writers were never actually sure who the mother would be though for the same reason (not sure how long the show would last). If it would have been cancelled prematurely before they had time to set up the mothers story, they would have brought Victoria back and let her be the mother.

That was on purpose that's why they kept showing him with blissful domestic coupes Marshall and lily/ted and wife. He had grown up with robin but when she divorced him bc of work/innate love for Ted he had no choice but to fall back into old habits. But as soon as he had his daughter he had a reason/excuse to grow up again

It's a lighthearted sitcom with feels. That's what this show always was and what they wanted it to be (exactly what Barney said about his character,) that is what made it fun and funny to watch. Barney is who he is, he was a big part of why the show worked. I would of been ok with the growing up part, but it didn't work with how they wanted to end the show.

It could just be temporary, it's Barney. Ted/Robin may not work again. We don't know, lol.

Who do we blame. The local networks like abc, nbc, cbs, fox. They all push for more seasons when it doesn't help out the show just profit.

MARSHALL EVEN PAID LILY TO END THE BET!!! I HAD SO MUCH HOPE WHEN THAT HAPPENED!

Spoiler Alert
I'm pissed. That ending sucked IMO. The mother lied in the Article I posted and caught hell for. We deserved better than what we got.

After he turns to a young guy and tells him "so much happened". That was a creepy and terrible line.
It was even worse than his "I had wings earlier.. much earlier" line as to why he sent his wings back.
