These are all awful people, except Marshall and the Mother.... 
Marshall really got fricked for going to Italy too. Look how shitty his work was for as long as it was... Guy deserves either a medal or a kick in the nuts for putting up with his wife. Lily is based off one of the head guy's wife. She must of really gave him hell.

That was a terrible finale. The whole season being set in Farhampton was rendered meaningless. Zero payoff for Ted waiting to meet his soulmate. She was an afterthought in this episode.
The writers completely butchered what should've been a layup. The finale could've been the whole wedding reception with some flash forwards but Ted doesn't get to meet/see Tracy until the end of the wedding.
Just terrible.

I didn't like the ending.... The writers never explain "Robin's kids" and wasted this final season showing us a weekend wedding just to end it with divorce in the finale. They could've ended this whole season/series much better IMO. If teds just going to end up with Robin then don't introduce "the mother" and have Barney marry the stripper

Pretty much all of this. I understand the creators of this show had this cute plan to end with Ted/Robin from the pilot episode, but I feel like the show had evolved beyond that. They should have nixed their original plan and had Ted live a happy life with the Mother. Sentimental, safe finale would have been a much better route.

Exactly. How could anyone who watched the pilot episode, or even the first couple of seasons for that matter, have not known the whole show was about how Ted met Robin. We didn't even meet the mother until last season. Looking back, how could they have justified all of the seasons that weren't even about the mother?

I think most people are annoyed with how they did it. They had us invest so much time in Barneys growth only to throw it away. Also, they made the mother so likeable, only to kill her off with a throw away line by one of the children.
And like others have said, this past season has felt like a waste of time.

I think we can all agree this show was a season too long. It went downhill from when Robin and Barney got together. Barney with Quinn would have been so great. Then Robin could have either married some other dude and got divorced or never married cause of her career travels then the mother dies and her and Ted end up together the end.
Felt bad for Ted when they showed the mother in the hospital. They could have made the ending of the show so much better but for whatever reason forced this garbage Ted, Barney, Robin love triangle on us and left most people confused and a bit fed up I would assume.
