Speaking of Heat, that was the movie where I said “WTF is wrong with Val Kilmer’s elbow?” It was never addressed in the movie, even though he was showing it off wearing T-shirts. I later found out is was some left over injury that occurred while filming The Doors.

Looks like bursitis. I had this happen a few times in high school. The bursa sacs around the joint would become inflamed and blow up with fluid. Looked exactly like kilmers. Like I had a golf ball or racquetball in my elbow. I ended up having surgery to remove them.

Watched the Behind the Scenes on this. All real blank fire. No CGI. All shot in downtown LA (on the weekends) and not on a sound set. They couldn't get the echoing sounds they wanted without doing it for real. Took them weeks which is unusual in that most movies are completely shot in about 6 weeks.

Actors trained with the Navy SEALs prior to filming to get the gun handling and small unit tactics right.

I believe cousin told me they used that scene during training when he was in the marines a long time ago. I don’t think I’m making that up lol.

You got a link for that, or was it like a DVD extra or something?

I'd love to watch that.

Mann always uses realistic gun handling and sounds in his movies.

My favorite:

this is accurate. we watched it at both OCS and the Basic School as an example of bounding / fire and movement, with specific attention given to their communication as they set and move.

Amazon has the 4K+blu-ray+digital code listed for $9.99 right now: LINK. I think the picture in this version is a little dark, but still a pretty good 4K transfer.

I love movies with good small teams tactics and proper weapon handling.
