4th of July means watching the John Adams miniseries. If you have a chance, at least watch the first 2 episodes (Boston Massacre & Declaration of Independence).

Sassy Edward Rutledge steals the show.

best HBO miniseries not named BoB or The Pacific.

Doing the rewatch a few years ago was amusing to me as I thought about Stannis the whole time rather than Thomas Jefferson.

The French aristocrats creeped me out.

I frequently watch clips on YouTube but I haven't re-watched the series after the original airing. Maybe this is the year.

The scene where John Adams addresses King George post war is fun.

I always think about Tom Wilkinson playing major figures on both sides of the war in separate projects.

As Lord Cornwallis in The Patriot (one of the few bright spots in that movie) and Ben Franklin in John Adams.

By few bright spots, I assume you are including the extreme tomahawking skills.

first couple of episodes are the best if you want a quick dose of patriotism heading into July 4th. The entire series is excellent though.

That was an excellent series. Paul Giamatti did a fantastic job imo. I'm absolutely going to do a rewatch over the 4th and the weekend.

Wow - that's commitment. It's like 9 hours long. I can't imagine watching it a second time all the way through, much less doing so every year!

I really wish the type of congressmen wearing them would come back and show this current breed how to do it.

If the intro doesn't get your blood pumping, you aren't American.
