Now I go into the HBO Max app, sign in using ATT ID, and it says the subscription isn’t valid. fricking idiots.

Are you using the portal to sign in using your cable provider, or are you putting your ATT ID and password in on that first page? Because that request for ID and password on the main page is for people that purchased Max separately.

I'm struggling to find this portal. I have the 1Gig internet plan, which supposedly includes Max. I can not find the login link for this anywhere.

Anyone know how to set this up?

AT&T (T -1.5%) is famously unconcerned about launching its high-stakes HBO Max streaming service without distribution on Roku (ROKU -0.3%) and Amazon Fire TV (AMZN +0.5%) - exemplified by incoming CEO John Stankey: "We must be doing something right if somebody believes we are now starting to be more in conflict with their business, so I don't necessarily take that as a bad sign."

Yes, fricking customers out of being able to use your service they either are paying for or want to pay for isn't bad at all.

It works ok on XBox though I've always hated using a video game controller as a remote regardless of the service so my opinion of the app is obviously going to start from a negative place even though there really isn't much wrong with it other than that.

The main issue is my XBox is on the TV I play games and watch sports on. My wife watches most of her TV in a different room which of course uses a Roku.

I feel ya on that.

I have HBO through Cox, which means I have HBO Max, and have been able to confirm on my desktop. We had the PS3 and 360, but my son's progressed to gaming on a good desktop system, so no-go there (and we've closeted the gaming systems). I've got Prime which I use on my firestick, and Disney+, same thing... and I bought a Roku as a backup for Disney+ back when that released.

All of which are completely useless for this

I wanna watch some of these movies and check out Doom Patrol, but my only option is via desktop, or drag a laptop or something similar to the other room. My reciever is already getting full with the HDMI cables as it is, this is BS.

Just bust out one of the gaming systems. That's what I did.

So, I have HBO on Amazon Prime, should I cancel that and get HBO Max? Which is better?

Just downloaded the app to my phone and PS4, was really surprised by the TCM catalog. I thought it was going to be similar to the content on the TCM app but it’s a much larger selection. The Ghibli collection was a nice surprise too.

This is fricking aggravating. I purchased hbo now about a year ago on amazon firestick but I just bought a new Sony tv that comes with google play. The hbo now app worked fine on it then when it auto upgraded it’s not letting me watch because I purchased hbo now on my old firestick and not google play, and I can’t go back to Now. Such bs

In related news, Disney+ no longer works on my Samsung TV. Getting a "Disney+ is no longer available for this model, we are working with Samsung yadah yadah yadah."

I have three Samsung Smart TVs and three Rokus. Disney+ now works on two of my three Rokus and zero of my three Samsung TVs.

How old are they? I don't know why this is consistently the case, but apps regularly stop supporting older Samsung Smart TV platforms. I lost hbogo on my Samsung over 2 years ago.

I was able to side load HBO Max on my Fire TV's, I just have to go into the settings menu to be able to launch it.
