One of the most disappointing things about the movies is that, in most cases, they made great casting decisions and got the right people to play the parts. Snape, Umbridge, Hangrid, McGonagall, etc. Hell pretty much all the teachers.

The plot/screenwriting is whats shooting the movies in the foot.

I agree and what really pisses me off is that people like Snape, Hagrid and McGonagall are not getting any screen time. They all played some important parts in the story but were given minimal screen time.

1- GoF
2- CS
3- DH
4- HBP
5- PoA
6- OotP
7- SS

Prisoner was my favorite book and movie.

I really didn't have OotP very high as a movie after the first watch. I've seen it a few times lately, and enjoyed it more each time.

I can't rememebr enough about all of the films/books to rank them properly. Before DH comes out, I think I'll rewatch all of the movies with my kids. After we see DH part 2, I'll likely reread all of the books, this time with my kids.

Not sure why I typed all of that, since I'm sure none of you really care about my future Harry Potter plans.

I can now get on with my day, since I was waiting to hear about your future Potter plans.

Seriously, though, I think that it's awesome what you're doing.

I am disappointed, all this Potter talk got me wanting to read it all over again. I just bought a Nook today and find out that there are no ebooks for Harry Potter yet.

I've never read the books, but in the movies HP comes off like a huge sissy. Seems like he either gets his arse kicked or needs someone else's help every time there's a confrontation.

When Dobby looked up at Harry after jumping in front of the knife and said "Ha. . .rry Potter", and then died.

I got misty-eyed.

CS as I said feels more like a sequel than the next step in the series. It roughly has the same plot as Sorcerer's Stone, except you find out more about Voldemort and Hagrid. If I had to guess after reading the first 2 novels what would happen in the remaining 5, I would guess it would be some sort of mystery to where no one but Harry and the gang can do anything about it, Dumbledore leaves at the end of the novel, and it always turns out to be Voldemort and he manages to defeat him in some sort of ridiculous way.

This will not be conveyed properly to the big screen. It will be the equivallent if Jar Jar Binks sacrificed his life in Return of the Jedi for Luke, despite not being seen for 4 films. I hate to say this, but they need to put Kreacher in this role in the final film.

Rowling is one of those that believes ebooks in an "impure medium" for reading, whatever the frick that means.

Don't know how the Nook works, but there are some epub versions of the books out there. While I don't know how Nook works, I was able to put them on my iphone with the Stanza app.

ETA: also mobi versions

i'm definately happy to see the books get loving around here and to see that mostly everyone has the same complaints as me (with the movies. The sixth movie killed me because of the whole snape and HP confrontation right before snape killed dumbledore. And not very much action granted they covred Voldemort's life pretty good.

Found this on sporcle
See how many characters you can name in the Harry Potter series based on how many times they have been mentioned in the book. Don't need to go in order.

Hint: If you enter the last name, such as Potter, it will give you the entire Potter family.
