I didn't like the overly dramatic tone of the trailer. It's trying way too hard to be epic, it's too self aware of what the audience knows and expects.. Doesn't mean the show will actually be like that but a lot of nostalgia bait projects lean into this style of marketing.

It’s just too weird without John Williams’ score

I'm shocked that they didn't race swap and change the title to L'Airie Potter

I hope Lithgow makes it. His Dumbledore looks like the perfect marriage between Harris and Gambon. frick if they had just cast someone else as Snape it would be a 10/10 for me.

Honestly, I liked it. It will take some getting used to new faces in those roles, and the music

But I dug the aesthetic

I still do not get doing the Snape thing

I don't understand the point of this series. it's the same characters and same timeline as the movies. We already know what happens to them during this time period.
Seems rather stupid to simply remake what already happen. If you're going to make a show during the same time frame of the movies, then you'd think they would focus on other characters, like Malfoy, or even Snape or Dumbledore. At least we know they were doing things in the background of the movies that we haven't seen. Pretty sure we know what Harry did during this time, at least the important stuff.

I think this can be successful IF they don't make this a money grab by giving us a Copy/Paste of the movies with a few things added in. They have a chance to do something the movies couldn't and go way deeper into certain elements and themes that were present in the books but simply couldn't make it into the films.

The Harry Potter generation aren't kids any more, so I hope they take the opportunity to explore some of the more "mature" elements from the books (the abuse from the Dursleys, Tom Riddle's family back story, racism/classism/genocide, more on Dumbledore's background, and so on). Just my 2 cents. I'll be locked in to every episode regardless just for the nostalgia that HP brings with it.

Harry looks like an older female teenager playing a young boy. Can’t put my finger on why but it feels really off

Definitely. He looks eerily like Rachel Dratch portraying Harry Potter.

Black Snape is such an extraordinarily bad decision. Will make the series difficult to watch.

How do you know they aren’t? There’s already leaked set photos of DD at Gringots during the break in, shots of him with Nicholas Flamel.

Just because the trailer showed some new and old things doesn’t mean it’s going to be a straight repeat. Even if it is, if the trailer didn’t make you want to give it a chance then it’s just not going to be for you. And that’s ok. It doesn’t have to be. It also doesn’t have to justify existing. It’s a new adaptation. You can’t complain (and I’m not saying you are but some are) about how characters don’t look or feel the same and then also say it doesn’t look like it’s doing anything new. You can’t have it both ways

This is such a weird take you would only see in the 2020s.

I just don’t think it changes the way you look at Draco.

I do think Snape being black could change the way you look at James & Sirius.
