It looks ridiculous yet we all loved it.
I don't think anyone's issue is with the "ridiculousness". The joke writing or improv will either make or sink this one. The original had so many quotable lines.

The original also wasn't trying desperately to imitate something that came before it. Something this went well inevitably fall into the trap of.

I can't believe they got Julie Bowen to be in it.

Has that typical Netflix movie look to it…

It also doesn't feel like Sandler is playing the same character.
That's one of the first things that struck me but of course that could be intentional. He is 30 years older.

Looks like a "remember that!" type of movie.
Like a high school reunion movie, overwhelmed with arthritic callbacks....I'd imagine if you went to a 30 year high school reunion (Class of Gimore, 1996) it would be depressing and sad but social.
That's the thing with late late sequels like Dumb and Dumber Too...you're not really watching a movie, just waiting for the old references...
And by mere mention or replay of them you're supposed to laugh....but nostalgia is often the opposite of funny.

Wow that original trailer pretty much spoils the whole movie.
So many trailers used to be like this.

I'm gonna watch it.
ETA: Julie Bowen is in it. I'm definitely watching now. She's aged like a fine wine.

Teaser feels like one of those Super Bowl commercials where the whole cast of a popular movie/show comes back together to sell UberEats or something. Love the original so I’ll still see this first day though.

I'm honestly looking forward to this. The preview really doesn't look bad but an older Happy who has won and no longer plays. Shooter will obviously have a big role as they probably come play for a charity or senior event. However, it looks like Happy which is the biggest thing.

Plot twist:
Shooter pretends to be chummy with Happy, but only till the moment comes to finally put Happy down for good. He never got over the humiliation.
You see, when Shooter was young, he went to go watch Chubbs play in his prime before that damn gator bit his hand off clean. He admired Chubbs. But, Chubbs wouldn’t sign an autograph for the young Shooter. Shooter runs away cursing Chubbs. He ends up near the waterway on the upcoming hole Chubbs was teeing off from. It was around this area where Chubb’s ball landed next to the water. As Shooter was making his way towards the ball to kick it into the water, he sees a large gator making its way through the water towards the golf ball. Instead of warning Chubbs who was already closing in on where his shot landed, Shooter backs away and hides in some nearby bushes. And the rest between Chubbs and the gator is history.
Shooter always felt guilt over what he let happened to Chubbs, but never made amends before Chubbs’ passing. He blames Happy for taking that away from him. Even went so far as to calling Happy a, “murderer” iirc. He absolutely despises Happy because Chubbs chose him, a young amateur, and rejected a young Shooter.
Happy comes to Shooter for help thinking the last is behind them, but far from it in Shooter’s eyes. So, he enlists to help Happy make a comeback, but will undoubtedly betray him in a major way when the time comes. Thus adding justice to the arc of one of the greatest villains of all time. Shooter McGavin.

Sandler has spent the last decade hanging out with his friends on Netflix’s dime. And uncut gems. The guy is living the dream.

Just watched the trailer.
Goddamn Julie Bowen is still fine as frick! You could make an argument she looks better now than in '94 when the original came out.

Honestly, did anyone feel anything for that trailer?
It looks like plain white toast.
Absolutely no feels.
Sad.

Sandler makes movies to to make sure his buddies are taken care of. He is basically funneling netflix money to them at this point.
