Yes they had better tech but it wasn't overwhelming superior.
Yes it absolutely was that much more superior.
The Covenant did not win based on tactics because the UNSC was just as good if not better at tactics. It was at least a draw in that area if not in the UNSC’s favor. What tipped the scales overwhelmingly in the Covenant’s favor was the overwhelmingly technological advantage.
quote:Yeah but the smart AIs the UNSC had were still much smarter compared to the average elite shipmaster. Which is one of the reasons the UNSC had a tactics advantage.
The covenant AIs were dumb because the elites refused to rely on them as they had no need to take advice on battle tactics from an AI.

quote:Yep, the Forerunner "gave them a fish." They found superior tech and never developed the skills to create and advance on their own.
the Covenant didn’t know how to use their own weapons properly. All their tech was reverse engineered from the Forerunners so they didn’t fully understand them.
Human ingenuity and innovation was a powerful tool that helped turned the tide as the conflict with the Covenant wore on.

The elites valued military prowess over technology. They came from a culture that embraced war. While they did recover and reverse engineered Forerunner tech, they were able as a species improve themselves as up to a tier 2 which is right under the Ancient humans and the Forerunners. This was several hundred years before meeting the prophets. The elites were the only species in the Covenant that didn't get an upgrade in technology when joining the Covenant.
Humanity was on the brink of extinction had the great schism not occurred. This was a huge break for the UNSC as now the Covenant was distracted and formed an uneasy alliance with the elites against the prophets.

A single entity created by a unified colony of small worm like creatures called Lekgolo. They are known as hunters to the humans standing just a little over 12 feet tall and weigh up to 11,000 pounds.

I played up to Halo 3 and never knew this either.
A bunch of little snake things would have been way more terrifying that a giant alien I had to dodge and shoot from behind.

Just think of that scene when the bad terminator in terminator 2 was blown to pieces and each individual pieces formed together to create a more intelligent being.
Also the hunters were the hardest species to force into the covenant. They were causing so much casualties against the elites that they had to revert to space and glass the Lekgolo home world.

I'm fine with taking the Halo setting and making a new story, but you don't call it Halo. Halo the game was called Halo because the central issue was a weapon called Halo.
Calling the show Halo and not having Halo rings be a central issue makes absolutely no sense in terms of the story. It leads me to believe that they just wanted to make money off the name

Halo lore has enough interesting plots and characters to make movies or TV series out of. It is a shame that it could be wasted.

Based on the very lame second episode and slightly more forward moving third episode I am under the impression that they are headed towards the Halo structures.
I just went back and watched the trailer and MC says “find the halo, win the war,” at the end.
I’ll give this the next episode but if we have politics on the space ship again I’m out. In rewatching the trailer they did show some action scenes we haven’t seen and an MC covered in elite blood, so here’s hoping.

I read one of the books called the flood. The chief did encounter an elite minor on one of the covenant ships from the first game. Almost a sneak attack the chief grabbed the elite by the back of the head and smashed it face first into the ground. So the chief has a plenty of conflicts that stained his armor.

And another snooze fest with 0 covenant interaction.
I watched so you don’t have to.
I think I’m out boys. I get one or two episodes of simmering down but three straight episodes of space politics and Spartans exploring their feelings is not what anybody wanted. Y’all have fun.

Half the episode is about Kwan Ha and I legit hope she gets decapitated at this point.

The Halo universe had so much potential.

Loved the games. Will never watch this series.

Halo lore has expanded enough that no excuse should be made on why they can't have movies or TV series out of this that are decent.
